Probably too late in the process for this and I'm sure it will get flamed, but I'd like to see the Cloaking Device console made equippable to all escorts + dreadnaught.

Just a suggestion/opinion/prayer.

The Federation Accountable asks this...

Who will pay for it?

Accountable or Accountant?

The answer is Cryptic. Out of the goodness of their hearts.

This won't happen and i'll try to explain why.

The cloaking effect on a ship is not actually a visual effect. As far as the game is concerned it replaces the entire graphic of your ship with a different, cloaked graphic.
As a result in order for the cloaking device to work on a ship there has to be a cloaked graphic in the game for every variation of that ship.

For example to make the galaxy X cloak required 2 completely seperate graphics to be designed by Cryptic. The Galaxy X skin and the Cloaked Galaxy X skin.
Defiant was obviously a lot more work as it has 3 varients with interchangable parts.

The Ablative Armor Generator actually works the same way.

The reason the game works this way is because the engine does not have the ability to compensate for the design of the ship when you activate the cloak. So it requires a completely seperate skin only activated while cloaked.

I hope now you understand why it would take a very long time to make the cloak usable on every escort and it would not be a very effective use of Cryptics time.

This is why there were very few klingon ships at release and they had no / very few interchangable parts.

As well, Cryptic has spoken often in the past on why the Federation does not have wide spread cloak use.

I hope they don't do this. People who want cloak can take the limited options available, level a Klink, or try using Mask Energy Signature.

It's a lot easier than you think.

There is no change in model. The model stays the same. Only the texture changes.

And, in reality, it isn't changing texture, it is merely losing its texture, being replaced by a simple color, and having its transparency turned up a bit.
