# 1 Tachyon Beam

Anyone else noticed besides me how nerfed this skill has become... I liked how I could use the b'rel like it was in the movie with tachyon beam and quantums before but being npcs get this tachyon beam defense to a degree + deflectors and the skill itself was reduced from 10 to 5 seconds that it becomes quite useless to even bother to use. It just seems like being a really handy skill now seems utterly useless. Where as before a tach beam 3 combined with CPB would be enough to take down most shields it now barely dents them. One big reason is my deflector transfered on holodeck had a major dish to it which i lose 1k shield drain to each facing in the process of this change. Benefit of the doubt I was wondering if this was intended it just makes me want to put the b'rel back up on the dust collecting rack like with most changes from cryptic nerfing the ability to have fun with this ship.

I'm not sure what you're noticing, but I would say you're definitely confused. Tachyon beam is not much different on Tribble.

According to the tooltips, duration is the same, its ridiculously cheap to skill into, and its actually noticeably more powerful, as is CPB, both of them draining more shields than they do on Holodeck.

Now of course the tooltip could be wrong, because it definitely is for some other powers, but assuming it is right, tachyon beam was buffed.
