Iíve tried out the Quad Cannon with my Brel Refit for a little bit on Tribble and found it very lacking.

Iím thinking that there must be a problem with the way the cannon is supposed to scale up in damage based off of your level.

At level cap my Cannon DPS was stated has 269 (pretty good IMO) but its over all damage numbers were only reaching 200, well below the level of damage put out by most Mk VIII cannons.

I may be way off with this suggestion but I think that the quad cannons base damage at max weapon power should be somewhere between 285 and 300 and to balance out the cannon Iíd say raise its power drain from 12 to 20.

Another thing that needs to happen with the Cannon is to have the number that we can have equipped on one vessel raised to two, being limited to one just makes no sense.

The Quad Cannons should have been a console that modified the look over all cannons and provided some kind of bonus to go with the engine power drain. It would have been nicer that way, anyway.

I agree. I was looking forward to these for the "coolness" factor and found them only chilled instead.

The quad cannons should already be doing better damage due to the extra cost (engein power penalty) your nuts if you think they warrant a weapon power drain penalty of 20 instead of 12 as well. they are rubbish plain and simple and you want to nerf them even further? Even with your suggestion of bumping damage up abit that power drain eats into the little gain you are asking for and you still have the engene power debuff.

[DMGx3] is just about the worst "Vare Rare" mod you can get for weapons anyway. I'm not sure I understand what makes them so great aside from the appearance either. Speed is life for an escort so unless they did something particularly spectacular I can't imagine why on Earth they'd be useful.

With the obvious exception of Normal PvE where it doesn't really matter.

I did not take the engine power drain into account (I though that it was some kind of bug)

i think it's supposed to be a pretty clear vulnerability for dps trade off, but to make that concept clear they should leave weapon power drain unchanged and out of the equation (weapon drain = 10). It's not pay to win if you get the great damage by becoming more vulnerable. It's just a tactical option. But the devs should make that concept easy to understand by a quick look at the item pop-up.

I'd like to see these go back to the concept we got from the STOked interview of the best damage weapons in the game. The cost is the vulnerability of decreased engine power. Make the damage and bonuses better than the best purple gear (tripple accuracy and a superior base dps) but an engine power penalty of consequence. Remember, the item has to be worth getting without being OP.

I'd trust the devs to scale "penalty of consequence", though I suspect I might be one of the few.

Considering this is the only special ability (that I can think of off of the top my head) which is not in console form and actually has a significant downside I'm not sure. The problem is that the cannons themselves, which are unique, do do anything spectacular in the first place.

All that being said, I'd love to see some of these other pay to win and pay to not lose consoles have a sharper downside than simply giving up a console slot.

The best mudifiers for weapons are CrtH and Acc anyway. CrtD goes when Acc is over 100%.

You might have missed it, but they turned up the damage for them a bit. Should have been more, because really they should beat Dual Heavy Disruptor Cannon Mk XII [Dmg}x3 when on a VA/LtG ship. But I suspect they do not.
