# 1 Klingons and crazy skills.
11-30-2011, 06:03 AM
I have flown fed since day one but recently, because i'm a bit of a gear *****, I have started playing as my Klingon because they get much better STF gear. I was having more fun getting huge crits in my Siege Destroyer than I ever did in any fed ship and the ability to take Vent Theta Radiation on an escort is just sweet.

However, as some of you know, Cryptics latest round of skill changes made the before average Aceton Field into the incredibly overpowered Aceton Beam so I thought i'd try out a Bird of Prey that used it. Lets face it an escort with 4 dual heavy cannons and a -500% energy damage resistance skill that lasts 30 seconds was going to be insane.

And it is.

I'm using MK X white dual heavy cannons with the T5 BOP (not the refit) and I shread tactical cubes in DSEs in about 5 seconds.

I should mention I'm a science captain so have no captain dps increasing abilities. Whats the point in using Sensor Scan (-47% all damage resistance) or Attack Pattern Beta (-49% all damage resistance) when I can just use one -300% skill (Aceton Beam I) and still take Omega III / Rapid Fire III.

I can't even imagine the damage I would do if I was a tactical captain. Infact considering the engineers survivability, as science, i'm probably the worst of the 3 possible classes.

It also occurs to me that the Galaxy X has suddenly become the Feds best cruiser because of this single skill.

Anyone else finding the new Aceton Beam sickeningly good?

Edit:
My Build:

Commander Universal (Engineer)
Aceton Beam III, Eject Warp Plasma I, Emergency Power to Shields II, Emergency Power to Shields I

Lt. Commander Universal (Tactical)
Attack Pattern Omega III, Cannon Rapid Fire I, Tactical Team I

Lt. Universal (Tactical)
Cannon Rapid Fire I, Tactical Team I

Lt Universal (Science)
Hazard Emitters II, Transfer Shield Strength I

This uses Aceton Beam III which is -500% energy damage resistance. This seems excessive so if one wants to use Aceton Beam I instead (-300%) i'd swap these BOs.

Commander Universal (Tactical)
Attack Pattern Omega III, Rapid Fire II, Cannon Scatter Volley I, Tactical Team

Lt. Commander Universal (Engineer)
Aceton Field I, Emergency Power to Shields II, Emergency Power to Shields I

Enjoy.

Is it possible that they simply added an extra digit to the Aceton Beam's debuff? Five-hundred is, after all, completely ridiculous. I know there was another discussion about this somewhere but I can't seem to find the thread at the moment.

How is this a crazy Klingon skill? Being an Engineer BOff skill it can be used by either Fed or KDF but either way I'd rather see what the actual debuff is, the -500% sounds strong but I'm curious what the final debuff actually is.

Its an open skill (wether broken or not) and any fed Cruiser from the Heavy cruiser on up can use it.
Some can even stack AB1 twice and have room for AB2/3 as well.
As can the Science vessels - Advanced Research retrofit and Dy'kr.
Of course no fed escort can use this ability

As no KDF raptor can iether, All But three KDF Battle Cruisers can though and of course the BoP from the Norgh up.

Damn that KDF OPness!! eer I mean Fed OPness!! er I mean this busted power!!!!

i think what the OP is concerned about is the combination with very high spike damage you can generate on a Bird of Prey compared to a cruiser. Of course a cruiser teaming up with an escort will achieve a very similar effect.

Indeed the purpose of my post was mearly to show the Klingons that, because their Bird of Prey's can get this skill and still use all the tactical BO powers they want, they have the best damage potential out of anyone at the moment.

I don't pvp but I can only assume this skill has broken even more what was already in dire straits.

With the kind of DR debuff this skill is listing, assuming it is actually that powerful, then I'd be more concerned with Sci skills like GW3 or Tyken's than anything a Tac can deal. The Tac has still got to burst through your (hopefully) hardened shields to get to the nicely debuffed hull but a GW can still deal a nasty DoT through shields that will only be magnified by any DR debuffs on the hull.
Looking at it that way I'd be more concerned with a Nebula or D'Kyr showing up and throwing an EWP on you just to add a second powerful DoT on you for good measure.
I'm not saying it's not broken (I've not used it) but a Fed can be just as, if not more nasty than a BoP.

I've yet to see anyone use the skill on Tribble but it does sound broken to the extreme.

I'll be running over to Holo to pick up a few BO with this skill for each faction in the event that it becomes a good skill to use.

Get them before the name change and they become the next ASIF3 or BO3
