I get a similar issue that has been cropping up for at least 2 weeks. It was on tribble, now it's on holo.

Technical Details: Error decomressing data. Verifying Files in the launcher may fix this issue.: Texture_Library/Environment/1_Interior_Kits/Gen_Ship/Gen_Ship_Bartable_01_Ns.Wtex:
This has been happening 6-7 times a day while loading into zones. I notice it at ESD and DS9 mostly, though it has popped up while loading into STFs and Q's winter wonderland as well.

Verifying the files does nothing to resolve this.

Also, when the game crashes I have to go into task manager and manually end the GameClient.exe process, otherwise when I start up the patcher it'll just sit there "patching" forever.

I'm almost to the point of uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

fix is to delete the texture.hogg files located in the /live/piggs directory.

and have the launcher download new ones.
you may have to turn off your antivirus while patching as some antivirus programs like panda 2011 will corrupt the hog files on downloads.
also you will have problems if the game is installed in the program files folder on win7 and vista systems.

Fun fact, the game will break pretty frequently if you install to Program Files under Vista or Win7 because of a new security feature called Virtual Store (short version: it intercepts and rewrites file writes inside prog files to go somewhere else). That is why it is no longer the default install location on those platforms. There is no permanent way to disable this feature of Windows, so installing outside of Program Files is the best option. The "correct" place according to MS for this would be C:\ProgramData, but more games use Users\Public\Games that we wanted to go with the clearer one. The More You Know.

I dont know if Im getting the same error as the OP, but I didnt feel the need to make a new thread.
My issue is that, when trying to load the game, it either crashes at the main loading screen, or when trying to load my character. The install path is in my Users folder like Pegasus said it should, and I deleted the texture.hogg files, to no avail.
The game was working fine last night, and the only thing I've done is restarted, though I think there was a patch

couple things to look at for clue.
check the error, shutdown and crash logs located in the cryptic studios folder and in the /live/logs/gameclient folder to see if there any indication for the crash cause (format is year month day time with the latest entries at the end of the file)

you can also enter -console in the advance command box of the launcher options . this will open a console window that shows what the gameclient is going and you may see the last action it did before the crash. best to do this by playing in window mode so you can see the game and the console window.

I ended up reinstalling the game last night, and since then I've had no problems playing.

I've had similar problems. Even with a complete uninstall/re-install, the game client still crashes. Should I try to get rid of the texture.hogg files by themselves or try a new re-install?

Also, the last few days the client hasn't crashed, but I've been in the same area and haven't really tried going anywhere else for fear of the client crashing.

you can just delete the corrupted file.
if they continue to corrupt then you have some other problems

hogg files are large can can be corrupted by serveral things.

1. antivirus programs checksums can corrupt the files on downloads or updates
2. failing or bad memory
3. failing or bad harddrive
4. weak or failing power supply (this can also affect the hard drive)
5. weak cpu
6. failing network card
7. having the program installed in the program files folder under win7 or vista.

LAst Log shows this .

111210 17:09:50 41 Client[0]: GSM_Quit(). Reason: emEditorMain or utilities Lib Should Quit()

odd many crashes more then Champions Closed Beta the Engine update Predecessor of STO and the Child of Co. in the last Winter Wonder land .. and at first encounter with Q for a Toon.

Either a crash at the flashing out transition from Q to the WW From ESD various maps.
Then too for my last toon to recently visit WW. .I had crashes at using my V key scan to point out a snowman group for the Accolade.

The process has elicited MEM leaks and 3D3 ERR for my fully updated Nvidia SP3 XP

I was fearing you might say the power supply. I just replaced the RAM and installed a new graphics card. The person who helped install the new card did suggest getting a new power supply, but I figured I'd give it a shot with the original power supply. Now I'm starting to think I should replace it.

Thanks for the help.
