I couldn't help but notice that it didn't recognize itself until the guy told it what was in the mirror, in order to truly pass the mirror test it would have to innately recognize itself, without programming or intervention. It's obvious by that video that the bot has a database of images it is matching with the words, and that by being told what is in the mirror it is adding that image to the database. That is very simple programming.

I watched the video, and I wouldn't call that "self-awareness". The robot is capable of identifying an object that has been designated as "me". If you placed an identical robot in front of it, it would probably identify that as "me" as well, since they look the same.

I think we're safe ... for now.

Frankly, I think that getting an AI to successfully associate a visual image with its referent word simply by *telling it* (and not having to *program* it) is pretty effing high-speed.
