I don't know how other folks are doing their skill layouts, but I went for the basics: max what really counts (hull, speed, shields, accuracy, defense,weapon damage, weapon criticals, etc), and balance everything else out with 1-6 points depending on how much you need them. The results have been far better than expected, but then again many folks are still trying to figure out the new skill tree layout.

I'm still torn about whether or not the Sci skill Subspace Decompiler is worth investing in since stuns no longer completely incapacitate targets (team skills remain usable).

I'm definitely not a fan of the skill tree.

To keep my RSV captain from being completely weaker across the board, I had to totally change my BOFF layout to fit the new skills. Even still I lost power rating in everything but weapons. My crit ratings are lower.
I've lost all of my ground skills, except the T1 skills, though even those are lower. And my sensor rating is lower, though how much of that is because I couldn't spec fully in sensors and how much is because they massively nerfed stealth detection is unknown.

Speed, hull, shields mostly stayed the same.

Goodbye VM and PSW, I can't possibly afford you without losing too much to my other T5 skills. Now I've decided to run a boring shield stripper build, TB 3+CPB 3, or maybe FBP 3 since it is back to its original damage levels right now.

I was rather fond of my disable build. It wasn't FOTM, and it wasn't something people could complain that it was OP. But now it is not possible because it forces too much sacrifice in more important areas, and even worse, no consoles or deflectors buff it to even try to run it at a loss.


Of course I also can't afford much in the way of resistance skills either. My escorts fared much better in the conversion, able to spend on luxury skills my sci can't. Weapon performance is unnecessary now, for escorts. That frees up a LOT of skill points.

So I'm not happy with the skill tree.

It seems that most of the people who are happy with the new skill tree are primarily escort captains. To me it feels like everyone has a lot more DPS. maybe Rock's right & thats due to having lower resists. I flew my tank build into kerrat tonight & was able to tank & kill 1 escort, but when Ivan joined in on his escort i couldn't tank the 2 of them. i used to be able to tank 3 escorts for an easy couple of minutes, as it stands now i was fighting for my life tanking/killing a single escort. I hope i still have a respec for that toon, if not, it's worthless now, i'm not paying $10 for a respec.

Escorts have just as little resistance... In fact i got 2% on all, even kinetic... Nobody will probably skill into those because they arent really worth it.

I think everyone got his buffs and nerfs, FBP is back to awesomeness, and more...

Well just saying but perhaps u've overseen some skill to spec into? Alot of people are confused and its understandable.. I'd suggest everyone to buy 20 respec tokens on tribble and check everything out there.. and see what buffs what...

It might not be the case.. who knows... Ive been a bit squishier myself but thats because everyones hull resist got nerfed. Im not gonna waste a full Tier 4/5 skill for going from 2% resistance to 13%... lol

i call bs on the first post. i dident read anything after that. havent you noticed that acc crits and everthing got a huge nerf? the stats list on you ship. i dont remember the numbers but mine were up there. now everthing is very low. and i have 8 points in everthing in tact station.

I'm just such an average duel. Even though not a week goes by I don't 1v1 Grey the duelmaster....

Also recent authorities lead me to believe this may be a trap.
