# 1 Klingon BoP Cruiser Needed
11-02-2011, 01:49 PM
They need to make a cruiser styled B'rel/K'vort Bird of Prey ship for engineers. I keep getting my butt whooped as an engineer in a T5 B'rel. I love the B'rel ship design...but BoPs arent quite as advertised. The poor hull and shields on the B'rel make it extremely difficult to make viable for an engineer. I cant keep my shields or hull up cause the ship is just too weak. I may have better luck with the Hegh'ta but I think those BoPs are hidious.

What I suggest is they make the K'vort. A B'rel styled ship thats twice the size of the normal B'rel. Has a turn rate a little quicker than the Vor'cha and is alot more durable than the original B'rel. It needs more than 2 aft weapon slots.

This would be canon too, K'vorts do exist in Star Trek. (or at least they did in an alternate timeline) in the TNG episode "Yesterdays Enterprise" even if its from an alternate timeline....big deal.

Or...if you want to be real simple, add a large B'rel skin for the Hegh'ta.

And, this offers an opportunity to fix the B'rel model up a bit. It needs its impulse engine redone to have the yellow bit in the middle, get rid of the 2 extra impulse engines. And add more bulk to the neck, fix the windows on the ship too.

The good news is large BoPs appeared in several episodes outise "Yesterday's Enterprise" as well and there was even a K'Vort class ship mentioned in a DS9 episode so it's not restricted to alternative timelines.
For some reason all requests for the K'Vort have been...acknoledged and then nothing.
I have no clue why.

For the moment I can't give you any advice except I put my 4th KDF character, an Engineer, into a Raptor (and on top of that armed with beams) and I'm having a lot of fun.
The hull is trong enough and with Emergency Power to Shields II and Rotate Shield Frequency combined with Tactical Team (always a good thing against incoming fire and that Tac ensign is ther for a reason ) I tend to think my ship is pretty tough for its size.

Sure thing as long as it gets a default Cruiser layout. Ship survivability is not totally dependent on the ship. I have seen cruisers melt from an alpha from a BoP and I have seen a BoP tank 5 ships. Also the B'Rel - R is not the best for cloaked alphas hence why it can fire torps cloaked.

Firing torps cloaked doesnt mean diddly though. In PvP, which is primarily all I do, in larger maps im often focusing on one target and their shields arent always down. Firing torps at a ship with full shields doesnt do anything.

The other good news is there are a couple new "models" of the BoP coming with the F2P build.
Bad news is you'll need to buy them through the Cstore.
They are not earnable in any way other than that.
But, they come with some cool stuff you can't get anywhere else, as will most of the Cstore ships in general.

The quad cannons may look cool but they are lacking in power. Really, this has nothing to do with the point of this thread though.

So long as it turns like a Vorcha-R with less survivability I'd be happy to see a battle cloaking battle cruiser.

Battle cloaking is really only any good on Vessels with the speed and turnrate to use it properly.
BCloaking in combat on a battle cruiser and still being in the combat zone due to speed issues may suck.
Besides, I would hate to use a less-survivable BattleCruiser just to have a battle cloak.

I always felt like the Heghta beeing a great BoP cruiser judging from the VISUALS ONLY... seriously... that squishy glass cannon thing does not fit at all to that big and massive ship... its much bigger then the (ingame already oversized) Defaint (and most other escorts) but more manouverable, weaker in hull and with less weapons? It doesnt go together!

Since the "B'rel" and "Hegh'ta" are technicly almost the same I wouldnt mind if they nerv the manuevability of the hegh'ta in change for hull and/or shields... the K'vort would make a great alt skin for that.

That wouldnt be a "BoP cruiser", but closer to that.

There's nothing "massive" to the T5 BoPs we have.
Big yes but most of it are wide skinny wings and a long thin neck with a small command section.
When you scaled a B'Rel BoP up to 350 meters you end up with a far more massive ship, especially the rear section on that ship is bigger.
So the Hegh'ta and the K'vort don't really have much in common beyond their length and the fact they have wings.
My ideal config would be a K'vort cruiser with one more point of turnrate compared to the Vor'cha (and of course a tiny bit less hull) but with an
LtC Science, because during the Dominion War we don't see them in any number as a frontline warship but appearently as lone patrol ships and areas like the Badlands are only sensible to patrol with good sensors.
So as an "inverted T5 Nebula" configwise the ship might be good to go.
