Greetings!

I just got finished reading the last Dev diary...did I mis-read it, or do the Feds now have access to a vessel with two Universal bridge officer slots (LTs)?

We have access to the same ship...so I guess you could say there is parity...but still.

I am not that spun up on Federation vessels...do they have any other ships that have universal slots? Seems like they have at least one other...but the class escapes me...

All the C-Store ships that I've been looking at have a universal slot.

Federation ships?

Maybe I am missing something...I went back to take a look, and the only one that I saw immediately on the Fed side was the Nebula -- which has a single universal slot.

The new Jemhadar (or however you spell it) ship has two universal LT slots....and it looks like it is going to be available for both the Feds and KDF.

Stats, from the latest Season 5 Dev Blog:

Starship Details

The Jem'Hadar Attack Ship is a small starship, similar to an Escort or Destroyer. The staple ship of the Dominion fleet, these ships were used with deadly effect during the Dominion War. Small, fast and maneuverable, the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship packs a punch that is larger than expected for a ship of its size.

Recently a handful of these vessels have been found adrift and abandoned in the Alpha Quadrant and both Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force have been scrambling to acquire as many of these derelicts as possible for study. The ships are always found undamaged, but with all systems offline and registering unusually high neutrino signatures. The ships are models commonly seen in the late 24th century, but all appear to be in prime condition.

The Dominion has not expressed any interest in retrieving these ships, and has not responded to subspace messages sent from Qo'noS or Deep Space Nine. For now, the appearance of the Jem'Hadar Attack Ships remains a mystery.

Nebula, also the Intrepid retrofit, which I was looking at because I just made Captain. I assume the other C-Store ships are the same. It's a fairly hefty incentive to buy imho. I'm sticking with my Nebula until I've saved up enough C-Points for the Intrepid retrofit because I couldn't stand to lose the universal slot (it's been a lifesaver).

Well, the truth is that Universal slots are somewhat rare - the Nebula, and you mentioned the Intrepid refit. I think that those might be the only two Federation ships that have them. On the Klingon side, the Bird of Prey officer slots are all universal - for all tiers if I am not mistaken.

In any case, the Jem'hadar ship is -- I am fairly sure -- the only ship other than the Birds of Prey on the KDF side that have more than one Universal slot.

We both get the ship -- at least that is how it looks. I did not see any mention of a console slot though...and that is normal with C-Store ships.

The only Fed ships with universal slots are the Nebulas.

The universal slots on this new ship are only LT slots, however. That doesn't offer much flexibility at all, nor does it really offer much capability beyond other escorts. Its nice, but two LT universal slots are not a big deal.

But seriously... how "universal" are these slots in practice? I mean... what? Someone is gonna run them with TAC BoFFs? No way cause they already have 7 tac power slots. It's either gonna be eng/eng, sci/sci, or eng/sci. Everyone runs with at least one ST, so it's either gonna be ST/ENG or ST/ST... not really that dynamic or mysterious...

The devs aren't taking anything away from the KDF. We got a nine (9) new ships to play around with and refits for many of the other ships. Anyway the the new ship only has 2 universal consoles, our bird of prey line has all universal consoles and they can fit consoles from destroyers and gorn sci cruisers. If they were revamped to be a escort class with science abilities and subsystem targeting, the fed players would be screaming about how overpowered it would be.

Nebula is the other class.
And don't all Shuttles have one Universal slot?

Anyway... The Jem'Hardar vessel is problematic of it being a better Escort than any other Escort in this game, due to all the other stats. The Unviersal slots are just icing on the cake. (On the plus side, at least it is apparantly for both factions).

It looks really gorgeous, but come on Cryptic? Can you please stop with bringing unbalanced ships?

U-slots where taken from us a while ago and I expect to see more of them put on newer ships in the future.

My question is, as U-slots become more prevalent ingame will the Birds of Prey see a easing of the handicap they have becuase of them?

If the BoP has a lower hull (24000) and shield (3980) of any ship ingame because of 4 U-slots and a BC for a total of 5 semi- unique characteristics does that equate out to 4800hull and 796shield per characteristic?
Divide by 2 for the OP stigmata this squishy vessel has thats 2400hull and 398shields

Can we have those two ship stats increased on the Hegh'ta or at least the T5 BoP variant for the loss the uniqueness when said U-slots are given away?
Say +4800 hull and +796 shields so the Hegh'ta or T5 variant has 28800 hull and 4776 shields?

I have no doubts that more vessels will arrive ingame with the occassional U-slots and we will even see the battle cloaks uniqueness go away when the Romulans arrive, so how long must the BoPs suffer a handicap for traits that are rapidly disapeering?
