Yes... well... for that you have to die first.
And beside randomly pointing out that you are die fast I havent heard a valid reson for that yet.

With the Kar'fi have more weapons them on my BoP, have ALMOST the same tac abilitys, have a lot more hull and shield... of course there are obviously downsides to... would be bad otherwise... but I dont see me dying faster then in my BoP with that one....
And BTW, the bop... at least yet... handles relativly well in STFs...

You don't die faster. You'll have more survivability than in an escort. And I don't see how the Phase Shift ability adds to the danger of getting killed. You cannot get hit while it's active. Even Torps that were already coming at you can't hit you anymore.
And while phase shifted you can still use ALL your skills, powers and weapons.

Survivability is kind of a moot point in elite stfs anyway. Who cares how much hull, shields, resists, hels, etc. you have when you're just going to get one-shotted anyway.

That said, I have seen several tac captain put out some nice damage in the kar'fi so it's definitely viable.

I don't know either. Every single time I have tried the phase shift (when surrounded and health @ 50) I have died.
Died in a carrier hurts more than dieing in a regular ship.
In a carrier, you have that magical point where you have all your combat pets out and you are ripping through Borg. It takes a while to get to that point.

In my honest opinion carriers need defense more than anything else.
I have been trying to get that tax carrier to work since it came out. It just isn't happening.

I donít know how to rate a Tactical Captain in the KaríFi because I believe Iíve yet to encounter one.

I can speak to the effectiveness of an Engineer in the KaríFi; they have great durability and surprisingly good damage.

I still think the OP suggested build shows promise; however, it has a big knock against it.

A build thatís based heavily off doing kinetic damage needs to be able to get its targets shields down and keep them down.

Torpedoís and minds do little to no damage against well shielded targets and gravity well 3 hates shielded targets as well.

I looked at the proposed build again and if kinetic damage is the goal, I think Iíd go with a Bridge officer setup like this:

Commander Science
Tykenís Rift 3, Hazard Emitters 3, Tykenís Rift 1 or Hazard 2, Polarize Hull 1

Ensign Science
Transfer Shield Strength 1

Lt. Engineering
Auxiliary Power to Structural Integrity Field 2 and Emergency Power to Shields 1

Lt. Commander Tactical
Torpedo Spread 3, Attack Pattern Delta 1 and Tactical Team 1

Lt. Tactical
Dispersal Pattern Beta 1 and Torpedo High Yield 1

Iíd use one bay for Power siphon drones and the other for the Fer'Jai Frigate.

Youíd also have to make sure that your Captain is speced out for high projectile damage and shield and hull tanking and lastly energy draining which should be easy since the build uses no energy weapons.

The one thing that Iíve noticed about the Borg since the revamp is that they donít do well against power draining and tend to ignore power draining attacks altogether.

Iíll give you and easy way to test what Iím saying about power draining the Borg.

Load up your Carrier with to hangers of Power Siphon Drones and go to Infected space Elite.

Let a team member go in 1st and argo the The Tac cube and then launch your 1st wave power siphon drones from both bays and then launch your 2nd (I think we get a total of 16)

If the Cube does not target the drones on the way in, it wonít target them at all and after about 30 seconds that cubes shields go down and will stay down (Granted the rest of your squad will need to be attacking the cube)

The power siphon drones will keep the shields from regenerating because the Borg AI only cares about weapons power.

Add Tykenís Rift 3 to the mix and youíll find that even Elite Tactical Cubes are easy to manage.

I used the power siphon tactic in my vo'quv. Combined with energy siphon chaining and polarons, you can shut down cubes easily.

A couple things I did notice was that the cubes will occasionally launch a heavy plasma torpedo at your drones and this tactic does not work on the assimilated carrier and donatra's scimitar. It would appear that those ships are immune to power drain or have some kind of crazy awesome resistance to it.

However those two ships are the easiest to take down. They are just crappy hit point walls.

Sure the cubes are the easiest to take down but on Elite the Tactical Cubes last forever and will drop you many times over before they go down.

With the power draining you can cut the Tactical Cubes durability down quite a bit and shorten the time needed to deal with them.

The draining method works on all the Borg except the ones that were listed a few post back.

I switch over to power draining pods with my Vo'Quv whenever there's a Tactical Cube just to speed up the time it takes to get past it and on Elite that could mean the difference between re-spawning twice or re-spawning 10 times.

I use the same Kar-Fi build in PVP as i do in STF's, except that I add a satellite turret in the STF's.
My STF build
for PVP i replace the turret with weapon batteries.
Yeah, My Captain is A Tac. & yeah it works very well.
