I don't think thats so many people spend again for a other random crappack. It was my first and last time to waste my this way. 400c per month of my LT is enouth for me. I learnig of fails.
I tried to win one too, Good news I got enough junk to get a scarf but no ship. I didn't really expect it but I was kinda sad at the toys I did get. I got 2 hortas but then I saw they are only 5000 energy credits on the shop. So I bought an Exo comp and that space pet thing. I am kinda sad at the weapons I got from the random box they are not any better than what I had. I think I would have been happier with some ear muffs or a decoration for my ready room.
What this grab bag has shown is that interest has been generated and there is much to talk about.
Personally, after I acquired the Borg Set and Aegis Set I was sitting around wondering what there was left for me to do in the game other than just rack up emblems and complete accolades. With the new random STF drops, the grab bag (which I won't pay for, rather just race for) it's not jsut a case of working for the best gear anymore, but also there is not a chance that at some point along the line I might aquire something that very few others have gotten. Indeed, not being an ubergamer, but rather an average one, it excites me that I may, at some point, acquire something that others don't have that may give me the edge in something like PvP and help balance out my talents as a gamer.
I see lots of threats to leave STO and head for SWTOR, but I bet most of the people saying that will still be in STO by the time the second anniversary comes around.
Personally I am enjoying the game more at the moment than I previously did, and, as others have said, if you want to spend real money just on a gamble, more fool you.
I've seriously given up on the ship. I'll do the ice run, but beyond that, it's completely unfair that people are getting multiple ships and some people are spending thousands of cpoints to get left out. In one forum a guy mentioned that he managed to get two with in his first 15 boxes. It's this exact pay to win mentality that is causing a lot of people to say good by to Sto.

It's frustrating that there are people getting multiple ships and then turning around selling them on the exchange. Or that half the red boxes people are paying for turn out to be blue boxes. Why would you put a blue box in a red box unless to screw with people? What are the odds on people getting this ship, let alone getting more than one so they can auction it? Is there a set amount and thats why they wont give the drop rates? Or is it just plain blind luck like the prototype Borg gear? Just some probable 2% random chance that some one will actually get anything.
I don't know what's going on at the Cryptic offices, but the loot drops are just not worth it, and frankly I can see why so many people are leaving. I'll try to stay for a little longer, the last of any of my friends who play, but still, while I'm not a terribly smart person, I see that the company has stopped caring about the fans and has become just too shady with how they do business. Too many lies and broken promises and frankly I'm just disappointed, both in star trek online, but more so in myself for believing in it as long as I have.
Please, feel free to voice your opinions on things like the Jem'hadar ships and the poor drop rates for anything worth something to you in game. I'm curious to see if I'm the only one who has lost faith here.
The ship totally rocks! I finally got one!!!.....it's one freaking expensive ship....end cost: $750...I think.....it might even be more...wish C-Store had a history or something like that.
All the stuff we've seen since the S5 launch... loss of ships and tokens, dilithium economy. terrible STF drop rates, ridiculous pay2win consoles and grab bags that give crap are now standard operating procedure for STO. It's not going to get any better, it's only going to get worse. PW is going to milk Trek fans for all they are worth before kicking them to the curb.
I enjoyed the game (even with the lack of content) up until this month, but the latest string of abuses is a step too far. My sub is up in early January... and I won't be back.
