Ok we had the lotto jem ship issue...this isnt about that but it is similar in some ways

Elite Space STF's. In the old days I played VA STF's for fun (yes fun in a game shocking isnt it)

Now the new ones just arent "fun" anymore.

1: The space and ground tree are still joined. Thus meaning you either specialize in one or the other.

2: I have ran 15 Elites..no proto drops of anytype. Yet a friend got 2 in a row.
(Lotto grab bag?!)

3: When fighting cubes you cant even see the torpedos till its too late (yes you can see the heavy plasmas im fine with them) but the others when you have 5 players spamming fire its nearly impossible to spot them.

4: One shot/two shot kills: I have an escort so 30000 hull a standard, I have full mk xi vs borg weaponry, blue mk xi consoles, borg set.
1 torp hits from a salvo(with brace for impact on!) and in down to 30% hull, 2nd torp a second later...KABLOOM.

5: Critical repair items are not purchasable from vendors

6: The original point of the difficulty levels(normal, hard, elite) was so that you could enjoy any content no matter the setting.
That has been thrown out of the window.

Overall they are just not fun anymore. I need to drop all points in ground(making that side of the game unjoyable) and hunt for critical components which rarely drop and theres very few on exchange.

I was an avid STF'er (over 250 completed of the old style ones) and tested them many times on tribble and participated in feedback threads...no longer. The few "Learn to play noob" players have finally got their way.

I will be logging into SWTOR at headstart and possbily coming back to STO occasionaly as I am a lifer. Having an end game that isnt fun....means there is no endgame.

MEh, Kind of true, I don't totally agree on this though. If they split the trees they're going to likely split the skill points anyway

They're upping these on Tribble soon, but yeah, I've run upwards of 40 I'd guess and yet to see anyone get one.

They fire normal torpedoes?

Yeah, nothing should be one hit kill in any game =/= fun.

Again, yeah, they either need to be available somewhere to buy or quite frequently in the STF loot table (I've come across an odd number today mind...)

I disagree - I think they're still fun, but different. I'd like to see the STF's exist in their original format too still though as story missions, but with the new ones as 'dungeons' too.

Actually agreeing with quite a bit (but not all of this)

oh the normal ones are still fun, no question about it. However once you have everything you want for EDC's you gonna need to run elite as its the only way to get mk xii gear ingame

you cant craft mk xii
the only mk xii loot drops are few and far between and you cant buy any mk xii with dilithium

The entire game these days seems to be about creating a rift in players by creating a large "1%" group of players with all the good stuff while the 99% cant get it.

It might be good for the bottom line but in the end all this does is anger the player base, and its not something that Cryptic should be doing. We all payed, there is no subscriber that should be above others, its just plain BS.

I just wish there was something between "normal" and "elite" for the STFs. The normal level isn't bad for PUGs, but once you have the gear, you can only do the Elites for anything better, and they don't seem to work as well for PUGs.

What annoys me about this, and about DL, and about the mystery boxes is these are classic hallmarks of eastern grindfest MMO's. Mind you, I saw this coming months ago, we're not far now from them selling MkXV phaser arrays exclusively in the c-store.

The focus isn't about making a good game, or about good reviews, or about creating something remarkeable and special or about anything that could mark STO as successful other than money. And STO doesn't have to make a lot of it compared to it's rivals, it's becoming another small cog in the PW machine. Maybe its me though, I don't attatch any real value to money and I'm not impressed by how much a person or group earns, I just see money as a necessary evil in life but I guess for others it is everything.

I'm very much in the same boat. the new STF's just aren't FUN at all. Especially on elite, but even in Normal, they're one shotting people way too often as well as spamming abilities. I've even had issues where i've been assimilated or Flat out destroyed long after we had cleared the area of Borg. Just randomly and with no cause. I wouldn't mind having just one type of drop for Mk XII gear if it weren't for the fact that they Drop maybe 2% of the time? Just like the Jem'hadar ship they refuse to tell you what the drop rate is simply because if people knew how low it was they wouldn't even try. and i've still seen no responses from anyone Dev side beyond Zero mentioning that they increased the Drop rate in Tribble. I'm just wondering at what poing is CBS going to step in and remove the IP.

Its indicative of a money-oriented business model and bad game design philosophy.

The interest and allure for items should only come partially from level.
The other part should be uniqueness, while still on an equal overall level with other pieces of gear at a comparable level.

IE in my perfect MMO it is possible, workable, normal, but somewhat challenging for a casual player to net the best gear, but his specific gear is going to be unique and not many other people will have it.
Not because he is one of the few with something at that level, but because there are so very many choices at that level that very few people choose to run the same exact setup.

Considering cryptic have been banging on about the time in game is measurable to the rewards you get....the STF prototype lottery goes against that very idea they have been promoting.

Regarding the the STF lottery, its also undermining what STFs are suppose to stand for. Maybe I got it wrong but arent STFs about promoting grouping up, team work and cooperation? Having this silly lottery where everyone is spamming need and its all about finding "suckers" to group up with so YOU can get a shot at ultra rare gear is very anti social and makes STFs overall a unpleasant experience. Whats the point in joining a que to group with others, investing your precious time into it when you have jack to show for it other then helping a deadbeat player get what very little, if any STF loot drops? I personally cant be bothered doing STFs when my hard work isnt rewarded unless I know and trust the people im going with not to be total jerks.
