# 1 Suddently horrible framerates
12-13-2011, 06:57 PM
Hello all. I have a Win7 64-bit machine with an i7 960 3.2 Ghz processor, 12 GB of RAM, and two Nvidia GTX 560 Ti cards in SLI. I tested STO on the Tribble server last month and was getting very good performance (basically 100+ fps in space and 60+ fps on ground). I haven't been able to login for a while, but I did today and to my shock and horror I'm now getting 10-20 fps (using the /showfps 1 command). Am I the only one experiencing these problems?

I want to sign up for a lifetime membership while they are still on sale, but there's no point if I won't be able to play the game!

Turn off your SLI mode some cards have issue with that.

BTW I fixed my problem by rolling back to an older NVIDIA driver. I was on the latest beta driver. My concern is that if that beta driver goes official it could be incompatible with STO.

Nope, and my rig is nearly identical to yours.

Doing this actually made it worse for me.

Seems for some SLI is the fix, and for other SLI is the problem....That makes no sense at all...

Fps is quite weird, i have tried all lowest settings and on q winter wonderland i get 25-30fps and maxed out i still get 25-31fps.

Q6600-3.2ghz
4gb ram
latest nvidia drivers non beta
gtx 460 1gb overclocked to 790 core
1920x1080 windows maximized
using max power in nvidia control panel and usual options to max it use all the power it can as u do.

That there's such a severe drop in performance since I last played makes no sense at all. I can see maybe a slight FPS drop due to some graphical improvements that place a higher demand on one's system, but to benchmark 40% lower after hitting peak six months prior? I don't buy it. They FUBAR'ed something on that one.
