Thye make a kind of Gnomish, jury-rigged version of the noise. It's quite fun.

Just ran a ground mission like this. Felt like a Jedi leading Republic troops into battle =P

Having unlocked pre-patch 9 and the 2nd unlock on Kauri (wayyyy back when), I'll test it and let you all know. lol

Everytime I ran an STF (ground part) it felt like I was a Starship(RedShirt)Trooper. The space parts felt slightly better.
