You really donít need Dilithium if you are already at level cap, most gear and Boffs can be picked up of the Exchange.
Well, with all the missions being replayable at any level, you don't really need to spend any Dilithium on the way up either - mission rewards will keep you tricked out just fine 'til you hit endgame. Of course, you still need Dilithium to buy your next ship when you advance (which still sucks).
I was wondering what we are supposed to spend ECs on? Before we could buy ships. But now I have over a million ECs and apart from going to the exchange and buying stuff from other players there is nothing to spend it on.

That's my biggest frustration with FTP. I am having to save up all my dillithium in order to buy a second ship for my main toon. I made RA just after the FTP transition. Previously, I bought an extra ship with every rank up using EC so I could play either an escort or cruiser. I thought the idea with the skill revamp was to let us play more than one class of ships more easily with less penalties from specing into just one type of ship as under the previous skill tree. So they've made it easier for me to fly both an escort and cruiser but quite a bit more difficult to actually get the second ship.
And I can forget flying more than one type of ship per tier on my toon that I am still leveling, because I have to save up all my dilithium for the second ship when I get him to RA.
So, no. I'm not spending dilithium on anything because I can't afford to right now. Flying different ships was one of the really fun things that I enjoyed about this game.
