Hello, everyone.

I've done a lot of reading in this particular section of the forums over the past week and I've created two foundry missions that have yet to be played enough to make it out of the review stage. I was hoping some of you might be willing to take a look at them and provide whatever feedback you feel like sharing. The easiest way to find my missions would be to search by author "rswfire."

The mission titles are:

- Undine Infiltration, Part 1
- A Captain's Duty, Ep. 1, Pt. 1

The first missions starts in Sick Bay on ESD and takes you to fluidic space where there are a couple of pretty tough space and ground battles with the Undine. You then infiltrate an asteroid base to gather intel for Starfleet Intelligence. This mission was meant to follow the storyline that Crypic started in "The Undine Advance" episodes. I've already thought out the progression for the story and I'm working on the remaining parts. It will be a trilogy.

The second mission is meant to take place in a shuttlecraft, preferably the Runabout or Captain's Yacht. You should have some decent weaponry on it as the first battle with the Klingons can be a bit challenging (despite they being from the "weak squadron" group). Shuttlecrafts are highly maneuverable though and if you get behind them, they can't fire at you. This one is meant to be a series of episodes and parts (although I'll likely merge the parts and just have episodes as I complete them.) I started this series because I wanted to give some fun, playable content for shuttlecrafts since I really wanted something to do with mine! I put the Breen gear on my yacht with MK 11 antiproton beams and quantum torpedos. :-)

This first mission takes place in orbit over Risa and a ground map of a shuttlecraft. It's combat light for the most part, at least in space. Much of it takes place aboard the bridge.

I've played some of your missions and they really are incredibly detailed, imaginative, and compelling stories. I feel I have a lot to live up to in order to meet the very high standards many of you have created! And that's a good thing! I haven't played a lot of them yet, but I do plan to play as many of them as I can, because they really are quite enjoyable.

Thanks,

-Samuel

I played the captain duty one.

It was a nice mission, short and sweet. I would have preferred it to be longer personally but its not a major problem as its part of a series. The space parts could have had a little more meat to it though.

I liked the fact it took place in a shuttle craft. I think we need more missions like that. The dialogue was quite good and for your first attempts you got the basics all taken care of well enough.

the first space battle was very easy. i was a captain level 4 but i had no problem dispatching them. the ground combat was a little tougher due to the limited space in the ready room. Half the time your bridge officers dont follow you in. Not really your fault but just keep in mind tight spaces often causes bo path finding problems.

Maybe i overlooked it but i was not 100% why i was in a shuttle craft/captains yacht in the first place rather than my my ship. unless i just glossed over it i would make that clearer. i tend to speed read a little so its possible its very clear and i was just not paying proper attention.

Est. Mission length: 20-30 Minutes

I put quite a bit more effort into the maps themselves this time and I think you'll enjoy some of the new mechanics I tried out. :-)
Federation Mission - A Captain's Duty
Author: rswfire
Allegiance: Federation
Project ID: ST-HCM39EHP4

----------Excerpt Start-----------

Summary: This is a really great mission. The story dialog is well written and the map design is very well done. I hadnít flown around in a runabout in a long time let alone fight in one. It was fun. I would highly recommend this mission to anyone who likes a good story with good maps and some tough battles thrown in to keep you riveted. I do recommend you create a posting in the "Foundry Mission Data" forum which will give more visibility to your mission.

---------End Excerpt----------

Thanks again for authoring and for giving me the chance to review your work. You did a great job and I look forward to playing part 2 of this mission.
Brian

Mission Name: Undine Infiltration, Part 1
Author: rswfire
Minimum Level: 46+
Allegiance: Federation
ST-HRAV65IDL
Estimated Mission Length: 30 minutes. Most "annoying" is probably that you have to travel from ESD to the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. This served an important purpose though. I wanted the mission to start with meeting someone in Sick Bay who gives some background info on why he is there and lays the framework for future missions. Then, future missions will take place in the same sector area so you can accept those missions and play them in order without further travel.

----------Excerpt Start-----------

Summary: This is a good mission. The map design is good and the battles are tough but not impossible to win. The story dialog is very well written. I did not note any real spelling errors in the dialog. I would recommend this mission to anyone who likes a good story with well designed maps and good tough battles.

Thanks, Captain Revo.

I'm surprised you found the first battles so easy. I originally had two sets of Klingon squadrans at the start of the mission and they were really difficult for me to dispatch (I was able to, but it was a fairly drawn out battle), and this was in a yacht with Breen gear and Mk. 11 weapons! If it really is easy, I will make it more difficult. I just didn't want to make it so hard that people gave up before they'd even really started.

I agree that it is a bit short, especially after seeing work like yours. :-) Likely instead of putting it in parts, I'll combine them into episodes. So this one I'll expand to visiting Risa for the conference and then some stuff that happens as you leave.

I didn't really explain why you're in a shuttlecraft. You're essentially just escorting an ambassador to the conference. I thought about this and realized that you'd generally escort a dignitary in your main ship, so I don't have a great explanation for this yet. :-)

P.S. Lineage is by far one of my favorite foundry missions ever played. It is spectacular!!!

every player is different and it will be different at every level, but they just did not cause me any problems at all. see what others say. I would not change it on my word alone but the fight i experienced was very straight forward. I also am fairly experienced so I used the yacht agility to stay on the Klingon rear (its also quite a tough little ship). others may just blindly park themselves in front of the klingons disrupter's and have trouble.

I would set it up so their are waves so you defeat one group, then another lot decloak. that way your getting a little more action but not facing 4 or 5 ships at once.

If you're taking suggestions the first thing that springs to mind is your ship is called away on a medical emergency in the pico system (or some nearby system) and you, knowing the meeting is important take the captains yacht to risa. it just sets the scene a little more and explains why your ship is not warping in to help you.

That's perfect, thanks!
