Here's an idea. Why not use it for fleets as a more private fleet social area... if I recall, weren't we supposed to have it where fleets would be able to have there own starbases and such, but that never happened...? Anyway I think it should become a purchasable option with EC's like when you buy additional fleet bank repositories, but cost perhaps 5-15 Million EC to "buy" a private instance to the Captains Table for your fleet. Yes, I know fleets have there own private channels for chat and a 'fleet' channel exist, however in ESD or Qo'nos or any other large social area, you still hear everyone on zone yapping and when its really busy it can make it easy to miss things when you have all the other channels running in the background. So having a private instance for your fleet would allow for easier fleet meetings and gatherings between members in which 'fleet' chat is the only chatting you have here.

Also I agree with the transwarp option, especially for this purpose. The captains table can still have its current NPC's to prevent people just from using the Captains Table, while ignoring ESD, DS9, Qo'nos, etc... and therefore the new F2P players, or those without a fleet alone. Its a good idea I think, because right now the only way to have a 'quiet' fleet meeting/gathering is on someone's bridge, which is fine and all, and gives the bridge a use, but its annoying that you have to manually invite everyone and that's a waste of time... A private instance in the Captains Table would be much more easier for everyone IMO.

+1 Support,

I've personally started to avoid ESD and DS9 because of loading issues, the times are sure to get worse post F2P because of the many players. Cryptic needs to alleviate the instance stress because ESD is the ONLY place to have a skills trainer, I think personnally the Captain's Table should have all the ameneties as ESD or Qro'Nos and be at the convience of the player base that have access to it.

I think it'll help to give the option to Gold members to avoid crashing out while loading an instance like ESD which will have TONS of people.

Well the captains table was supose to be a place where federation and klingon players can gather and see each other to plain joined borg STF missions. However that never really worked and now the Klingons can get to DS9 so that is the new hot stop for STF. The captains table is useless yet again. I don't know if we have access to the transwarp network in the different systems. If we have access to them we might be able to use it to go to different places something I will have to test when I get on. However, you don't need to buy special access to the captains table as if you pay long enough its part of your vet reward.

Vsal I hate to break it to you but DS9 has a skill trainer too. Look in one of those odd funky rooms either repair shop or shipyard area for the skill trainner. If I remember right he is standing near some containers.

ive been to the captains table and it has been absolutely empty! its never used. ive never seen anyone else ever use the place. i would say a transwarp capability to go straight to the captains table as well as adding a few more vendors etc. the captains table should be the ultimate place for everything. not a wasted area

I agree it's a shame that more people don't use it. It's a decently-made area that could really be a viable social zone if Cryptic only made a few enhancements. But honestly it's pretty good as it is, people just don't seem to pay it any attention.

One thing that I like about the Captain's Table is that a lot of the "functions" are very near each other in one room. So the exchange, NPC vendor, mail, and bank are all just a few steps apart. SFA is actually pretty good in this regard (you can access mail, bank, and exchange without even having to move) but the CT is about as good since you still have to run to get to a vendor at SFA.

ESD and DS9 are much worse- it is a good distance from the exchange to the bank, and to sell items at an NPC vendor it is also a good distance. DS9 everything is super spread out, almost on opposite sides of the station. I actually use the CT on occasion because of the convenience of everything being within a few steps of each other.

Now that I type this out, I'm kind of glad it's usually empty as it's a nice quiet spot to relax in STO. If it were as crowded as ESD or Quonos, it would lose some of its appeal. It's supposed to be an exclusive place (at least as far as STO terms, with the entry being 400-day vets and LTS... in the books I think it was not supposed to be like that), where you can get some space and some time to yourself. Kind of like the first class lounges at airports, not a heavily trafficked hub.

Perhaps the issue though is that there simply isn't enough people active in STO to really fill another social zone. Perhaps this will change with F2P and provide veterans a place to go free of beginner questions from noobs and the inevitable flood of spam. Perhaps Cryptic will actually listen to us for a change. Perhaps.

First of all, it is unlikely to see much use as a vet reward/lifer perk. So to justify development on it in a way that will benefit lots of players, it needs to be something people can buy on the C-Store in addition to being a vet reward lifer/perk or it needs to be opened to everyone. (Maybe one perk being that lifers/vets get access from level 1 and F2P players unlock access at Captain rank.) Alternatively, maybe make it an event that everyone gets access on the first week of every month but lifers/vets get access all the time.

Beyond that, it needs to have value.

In that regard, I think it should be a place, accessible anywhere, where you can swap ships. I'd also suggest making it a place where current and future latinum rewards are sold at a 20% discount... and installing a dabo table there. Thus, you get to bypass the EC->latinum conversion cost and the only cost of latinum rewards for people who go there becomes the time spend converting since EC->Latinum comes at a roughly 20% loss already

I'd also suggest selling non-accountwide Captain's Yachts there for free players for a mix of latinum and dilithium and maybe selling level scaling gear there for Energy Credits, which gives lifers/vets a leg up since they can get the level scaling gear at a lower level.

Beyond that, I think it would be cool to sell a unique hull texture there and a dress uniform version of the B01 and basic Klingon outfits.

Beyond that, maybe the items there are crafted and you can get crafting bonuses for making "Captain's Special Reserve" gear.

Overall, I could see this being something like WoW's Darkmoon Faire... And a template for similar events/services on Risa (Shore Leave Week with beach gear that's craftable and an R&R-based commendation boost for DOff system Development).

I agree with the OP.

- Captain's table needs more features
- Captain's table needs unique doff missions
- Captain's table should be accessible by transwarp

Thanks for all the continued support on this one guys.

At this point, we need to be thinking of ways to ensure this game can succeed & not present a bad experience during F2P, so the new players can add the financial support we need to keep this game going.
