Not bothered about the C point cost so please do not mention it!

What I am after is buying either one of these ships. What are the good points and bad points for each ship?

I am a tactical officer btw.

I am actually leaning towards the Dreadnought Cruiser just because of the lance but I may be persuaded otherwise!! What experience have you had with each from a gaming point of view. Which one do you enjoy more?

Dreadnought:

More Damage.
Damage Spike through Lance

Star cruiser:

More Healing.

That's debatable. I can pump out as much support with my Gal-X if I wanted to spec it in that fashion.

So... near equal capacity for support, but vastly greater killing power as well as a cloak...

I vote Galaxy-X on all accounts. I honestly don't see the great hype with the Star Cruiser unless you want to play "whack-a-mole" with health bars and be good for absolutely NOTHING else.

Most would. Until I blow them up and clean out my lance with their debris.

But you're correct... Excelsior and an Escort are e-z-mode playing compared to a Galaxy-X.

Have to actually think while using one, whereas with an Escort I can jam the same 4 keys with the "Fire All Weapons" button and generally do my job, at least as long as I keep up my speed.

Most can't do more than that, so they can't use the Galaxy-X effectively.

Because they suck at it, they deem the ship sucks.

Lesson learned, coming from an IT professional: Don't blame the system for user error.

I have the Defiant, Galaxy Dread, Nebula, and Excelsior retrofits. They are fun in different roles. Just depends on your role.

As a Fed Engineer, I use the Nebula in Space STFs for crowd control and let a DPS ship take them out. I use the Excelsior retrofit as an in between ship for Infected space for the Nanite ship spawns. The Defiant and Galaxy X is just DPS.

I use the same logic for my Fed Tac.

The Excelsior Refit may actually be a better fit for a Tactical character, as it has support for a higher level Tactical BO skills, compared to the two other ships you're considering... The additional 'Transwarp' abilities are just icing on the cake...

Though mainly Sovy flier do not discount the gal x to heal fairly well not ideal but she can do it.

The Star crusier like the gal x needs to be flown thoughtful.

Still nought wrong with the Excel either.

Cheers
