I know what you mean Aelfwin. One of the problems I have with the current STF PUGs is that there is very little socialising, or teamwork goes on in them. people go in, silently do the mission, then leave as soon as they can.

Errr ... , some ppl still say 'hello' and 'goodbye/gg' .
But yeah , that's pretty much the extent of socializing most of the time .

My issue is two fold. First, the non elite players who jump in then jump out at the first sign of "things might be hard" which ruins things for the people that actually play elites. and two is how rediculous it is trying to get the prototype borg sets. They need an alternate way of doing that or a more guarenteed drop rate. It's the exact same (seemingly) as the jem'hadar ship in the fact that it's pure luck. some people are managing multiples right off the bat while others are never seeing them. It hardly seems fair over the amount of work people are putting in or how often they run an STF only to wind up with nothing decent to show.

Sure 2 EDC is better than nothing, but at VA, my gear is already better than the MK XI borg stuff. the Mk XII is the only thing better so it stings that i've only managed to get 1 proto drop after over a hundred runs. Many of which are terrible do to bad team work.

Thank you and well put OP.

I am currently on a break from STO due to being burnt out and bummed out over the past month of runing STF and the winter event.

We need a better solution for the STF drops, after 1 month and a cople hundred STFs I have all MK XI MACO gear space and ground, must have ran over 50 on elite and not one prototype drop.

I agree that it sould take some time to obtain Mk XII gear but this just makes me not want to play, i feel like i`m not getting anywhere when it comes to obtaining the Mk XII gear.

i have done the elite missions i dont know how many times now but a lot and i have only got 1 MK XII piece and that was just borg salvage nothing like the shield array or anything like that and i am getting miffed off.
i can do about 1 in every 3 i play cos i am either teamed up with idiots who dont listen or people who drop out mid way and its getting boring. sure i want to MkXII sets but i am beginning to think that i should wait till something else comes out.
only one person in our fleet has a full Mk XII set and thats the ground set. something needs to be done about this at least make it easier to get or give us another way of getting them i wouldnt be to bothered if more STFs were introduced its just getting boring doing the same missions again and again and again ITS BORING

I want to thank the OP for this thread and fully support his proposal and critique as it reflects my point of view.
The drop rates are terrible, the use for Rare Salvage is totally nonexistant for players who already have equipped their captains in the last last of content draught.

Please, take this thread as a humble feedback.

Thanks

I used to love STFs. You go through a long mission and felt like it was an accomplishment when you made it through to the end with a decent team. It was fun. Then they were...."improved". Now it isn't about a mission to challenge yourself...its a total grind-fest. And sorry, I'm not a fan of tedium.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, when we used to do the stf's it was a tremendous feeling of satisfaction for me and the group i would be with, we would stop and chat along the way have a laugh and immerse ourselves in the environment we were in and at the end friend each other because we had a ball and worked well together, now its become a grind fest which some arent prepared to do anymore, im happy to stick with all my mk 10 anti borg weaponry, yes i would love to have the maco stuff and whatever the other one is, but its just not worth my time anymore, my one question is this though, when INTO THE HIVE is finally released, whenever that may be, will normal players be able to do this mission or will the elite sets be required, because if thats the case i may never actually get to play it.

All I ask is this: that there be some kind of guaranteed way of getting the mk xii gear. If that means that you must complete the optional on elite, for a single drop that the team rolls on, then I'm fine with that. At least then there would be something realistic to work towards... this whole luck-draw system is awful, and is making people angry at the game.
