Wait... what? Do you get some 'stacking' bonus that I'm unaware of? (Like if you have 2 or more of the same type, the proc is at 2.75% instead of 2.5%).

The only thing that I thought of after my previous post was a +Phaser console would be good for the ship, and therefore it is best to run everything Phaser.

You are correct on the second point... to explain the first...

No.

However, in my case, I have 8x weapons each with 2.5% chance to proc (Lance + 7 phaser weapons).

Because (for a Tactical) you are wiser equipping a mix of weapons due to our low number of Tactical BOFF slots to permit maximum DPS and burst potential, equipping Beam+% or Cannon+% is shooting yourself in the foot.

However, if you use Phaser exclusively, you can use Phaser+%, use the mix of weapons that gives us the best possible damage output, and ALL of your energy weapons, Lance included, receive a tremendous boost in power.

Besides, the cannon/turret weapons, along with the bonus damage potential over beams via DEM, also have greater chances of procing their special effect due to increased number of pulses (especially with CRF).

More pulses = more procs, to be openly blunt.

Beam Galaxy-X is usable, but as a Tactical, I will rip through you with my setup LOOOOONG before I have to worry about the damage I'm receiving.

Food for thought.

Dreadnought requires phasers because the phaser lance is phaser damage. When it comes time to pick your tact damage consoles you want phaser because of that.

Hey Hakaishin would your crazy dps build for your dread work for me even though I'm an engineer? I'd like to try the cannons/turrets

It does work, it depends on how you want to fly.

I don't believe you'll see the same numbers I will in damage, but I do believe you'd live longer than me. You'd have to fight with that in mind.

Your initial decloak/burst would still kill just about any target if you time it correctly. It's what happens after that which matters.

I can still rip targets apart (as shown in my video) without my lance, even without the support of my group. Engineer can do this as well, and may even thrive more in the solo environment due to survivability, but you have to keep in mind that you don't have the same buffs I do.

What does this mean, long story short?

My burst is far stronger, but in the end, your sustained DPS is still comparable (if my buffs are on cooldown, I'm no different than you). Can you do it? Yes.

You won't be so much "the shark", but more "the M1A1 Abrahms main battle tank with the 120mm cannon".

Hope that explains a bit.

Awesome. Yeah I went out last night and spent a lot of dilitium and skill points following your guide. Thinks starting dying a lot quicker and my damage intake was low to moderate (need more practice). You sir are brilliant.

Hakaishin,

I just got back on playing after taking some time off from the game. I was wondering if Pulse Weapons are still viable for the Escorts. I just made Vice Admiral last night and got my new Defiant class ship.

I have tetrion Cannons on the front with two I believe Tri Cobalt Launchers. Then I have two Tetrion turrets on the rear and once more Launcher there too.

What is the best weapon layout for this ship to do the most DPS/DMG

Is it better to stick with mostly or all cannons and turrets in the rear. Or should UI add phasers to the ship in the rear?

Just trying to figure out the best solution for me right now.

Appreciate any help.

Rick
