If any of my escorts had four engineering slots like the jem, I'd be running that with ablative to cover all six energy types, along with the eps & field emitter consoles (although that would leave a hole at kinetic resistance). I typically use neutronium to cover all my bases.

Regardless, all those armors give a lot of possibilities.

The proc on AP is extra crit severity. I have run various builds my AP builds are higher than phaser, higher than polaron, higher than plasma. I haven't run tetryons yet but will give it a shot once I have enough dilithium to outfit my ship in a full tet gear. The Plus to APs are the fact most targets unless spam healed just do not hold up as well under AP assault especially when it comes to bleed-thorugh damage which can also proc.

Don't get me wrong I am with yoiu the phaser proc is too out of whack because it procs almost all the time because I think it rolls for each system which means it has a 83% of doing something whether it is take a facing offline or 1 of the 4 systems offline and then regular damage. That needs to be looked at since it essence it has 4 different procs and everyone else has 1 so the chance to proc is like 12.5% which is extremely high considering cannons and especially turrets that is 1 out of 8 shots basically procs throw in cannon rapid fire and you could in essence proc a ship to death especially if you get a shield and engine offline.

AP doesn't actually have any bonus to bleedthrough that was removed a loong time ago you old man :-p

I thought this games different damage type is abit bland but then again I can understand that they dont want to create short-range better dps and long-range lower dps and everything in between.. 10km and what they have is abit to make it easy for missions and pvp,

Mav, you weren't on last night but I stand corrected about APs and Tets. Tets DPS is more efficient than APs.

I tried it on my eng/def after you Data, cuz of what you said in OPvP, and I struggled at times. Got in an overly long 1v1 with a tac/def who was out-turning me like crazy during an arena match. Couldn't get him below 50% hull for the longest time. Meanwhile, I kept on staying alive cuz of my engie powers and a healer on my team who came over to help me, fortunately. At least the chat became entertaining after the healer and I finally popped our opponent - he starting whining in chat and calling me a noob because I needed help. Sad. I didn't thank my healer, so if you're out there, thanks for the good teamwork. I think his name was Richard and he was in a nebula.

In the arena before that, I seemed to do well enough, but didn't see shields dropping any quicker at all. Overall, sometimes I did ok with them, other times, I had great difficulty putting any dents in my opponents' shields. I don't know, maybe I need to do more testing on one of my tacs...
