I use the MACO and whilst I don't believe its the insurmountable space Everest that has been lobbied I do think it is in need of a small nerf. This is mainly because, as when it seems like you're not scratching the virtual paint off of your opponents you can start to lose motivation, new players I can see especially be put off pvp altogether if it takes hours to kill one guy.

And the Honor guard is in the same bracket.

Burst is Fun! Attrition is not :[

also Ill still be using my dominion bug regardless of shield nerfs/not nerfs, suckers! :p

After watching an escort survive a cloaked alpha in my defiant while using these shields, and i went and did a 1 STF, got a shield drop and got me my MACO. PvP is a joke. Didn't need an extend and barely needed my shield heals to tank multiple escorts. I'll have to respec my Klinks and try out the KHG shields before I can comment.

For a small nerf, it might be interesting to see the shield damage resistance cut in half, and then the other half added to the two-part set bonus. It would make people choose between the benefits of three-part Borg and two-part MACO, so we might see some different builds out there.

Is the general consensus that we would like to call for a nerf?

Set or not, it makes no sense for this shield to have like 6 modifiers.

I'd say that it's still the Borg set making people invincible. MACO and Honor Guard shields only help. I have a MK XII MACO and I'll admit, it's nice.

Perhaps we shouldn't be allowed to mix set pieces? Make it so you must equip the whole "set", or not at all. This would make the "normal" shields, engines and deflectors useful again. (maybe)

Honestly however, I'd rather have a balance pass on P2W consoles first.

A nerf would be one option. Another would be moving some of the bonuses around, so that full Borg, 3/4 Borg with MACO shield, 2 and 2, or full MACO all had uses for different playstyles. if keeping the MACO shield proc meant losing the Borg 3-part proc, you might strt to see some variety in the gear everyone uses.

I disable the visuals on my set pieces so my opponents can't see what i'm running, but they already know because everyone else is using it too.

Steve the thing is you can still die with the KHG shield. The MACO shield is very hard to to even get a facing down and when you do RSP/TT/Shield Batt/EPtS/RMC gets it right back up. KHG is a covariant with high cap lowish regen.
