No, there is not. Downloading the F2P client from anywhere but the website is downloading from an unauthorized source.

Pretty sure that Pando is the source of the issue here. Pando acts as a one way P2P client, so download speeds are dependent on existing traffic and number of clients downloading.

There is a 1.1 mb downloader and a 2.0 mb one right?

the 1.1 was downloading at 1-100 kb/s and the 2.0mb wich required pando is going at 1.8mb

Here i took a screenshot of the 2 downloaders http://imgur.com/Dq1co

Same here

Star Trek Downloader ST.17.20111218a.12.exe was the slow-one [1.15mb size]

StarTrekOnline_EN_ST.17.20120104b.18.exe was the fast-one [2mb size]

Just wait for the steam version to come out. It'll be much better, and it won't kill your bandwidth cap like Pando does. If your ISP caps your bandiwidth DO NOT USE PANDO YOU -WILL- INCUR OVERAGE FEES.

I still can't believe they use that unreliable thing over Steam! It's ridiculous - Steam is MUCH better suited for this kind of distribution and it WONT kill people's bandwidth. Champions Online is on Steam -- hell Star Trek online used to be too! Why they pulled it, I'll never know. Guess they only want CO players to have an easy time downloading their client.

ST.17.20111218a.12.exe - not only does it download in a crawl (and I have a cable modem) it also makes my internet connection crash within minutes.

I have downloaded and installed 10+ online games in the last 6 weeks - inlcuding 2 betas - and all did work flawlessly.

But I remember when the Perfect World MMO came out, nothing really worked from downloading over installing to finally logging in.

I would love to play STO but I am not willing to post & send my PC spes a dozen times to defensive techs and mods and to constantly being asked what's wrong with MY 2011 PC ...just because they can't admit that some clueless Borg are working on STO.

See you out there - but not so soon.
