# 1 C-Store VA Retrofit Idea
01-16-2012, 04:10 PM
I have an idea that may be able to give some people what they need for end of game and also keep the C-Store functioning just the same.

This may not be able to technically work and there may be other reasons why the lower level ships canít be used (effectively) as VA ships. I have come up with a compromise idea that may work.

Maybe the C-Store could have a VA-Ship Retrofit unlock that allows you to take older (lower level) ships and retrofit them as VA Tier 5 Rank ships. Not as powerful as the V-A C-store ships but it would be a way to take your Connie into the shipyards and give it an overall inside and out to make them more powerful.

Here is the idea. You pay something like 1000-1600 C-Store points and you can use that retrofit on one ship that you have. There are three choices; Science ship, Engineering ship and a Tactical ship that replaces (or retrofits) one ship of youíre choosing to VA type weapons, hull and BO slots.

Escort Retrofit
Tier 5: Vice Admiral
Type: Escort Retrofit
Hull:28,000
Standard Shields:4,000
Weapons: 4-front 3-aft (Can equip dual cannons)
Bridge Officers:
T-E, T-LC, T-C
E-L
S-L
Device Slots:2
Consoles: 4-T, 3-E, 2-S
Cost:1,000 C-Points
Abilities: None

Science Retrofit
Tier 5: Vice Admiral
Type: Escort Retrofit
Hull:26,000
Standard Shields:6,000
Weapons: 3-front 3-aft
Bridge Officers:
S-E, S-LC, S-C
E-L
T-L
Device Slots:3
Consoles: 2-T, 3-E, 4-S
Cost:1,000 C-Points
Abilities: None

Cruiser Retrofit
Tier 5: Vice Admiral
Hull:37,000
Standard Shields:5,000
Weapons: 4-front 4-aft
Crew:100
Bridge Officers:
E-E, E-LC, E-C
T-L
S-L
Device Slots:4
Consoles: 2-T, 4-E, 2-S

Here, Here! If this would mean I could use my TOS Bundle Connie to the end I would love it!

This needs to happen. I imagine it would be a little easier to do thru the ship customization interface. As in you already own a VA escort, but you go into the ship tailor and buy a new costume. Did that today with a Klingon cruiser. I had a token so I thought I may as well spend it. Picked the least revolting cruiser I could find. Went to the ship tailor and lo and behold there was a costume option for a few points that wasn't available in the C-store interface.

I'm sure this could be done for any ship.

a choice between limited, within canon reason, upgrading and getting a new ship at rank up would be best. don't know if that's even possible anymore with ships costing dilithium and being expensive as hell.

Well you figure in the Star Trek world if they were at war and they had some old connies laying around that it would make more sense to take that old ship and retrofit it than it would to start from scratch. I think it would take less time to put new ship plating on it and replace all of the workings of the ship than it would take to start all over. It would be SUPER nice to take a smaller (older) ship of your choosing into battle. I would be happy if you could retrofit them as a rear-Admiral ship. Sometimes I think that they are much better than the VA ships.

hehehe i don't mind giving more money or waiting to convert dilithium if it is something that people want. We are just trying to be able to take an older ship that we like and playing it in end of game. That is all. I realize that they want us to be purchasing new ships to fly when we are VA so this is a way to give both of us what we want with (potentially) little work.

I have been suggesting since closed beta for the ability to use lower tier skins for your current ships, so long as it is unlocked for you. So if you buy the Exeter-class ship, that skin would be available to you to use on your Galaxy or even Sovereign. The way I imagined the ship customization UI to work would be, you choose the tier of ship costume parts you wish to use. So say that you have the Heavy Cruiser, but want it to look like a TMP Connie, you choose Tier 2, and it opens up the normal T2 cruiser costume options. If you had purchased the Exeter, that ship would also be shown as available to use for costume.

Obviously there will be some ships that have hardpoint issues. Nothing that can't be lived with until they can be fixed. And of course there is the debate of certain ships being available at endgame. It would not bother me to limit the starter ships (TOS Connie, Miranda, NX, Oberth) to a max of tier 3 or even 4. However, it would also not bother me if there were no restrictions, aside from C=store purchases.

I really like this as well! This is the same thing but the other way around.
I have chosen a few ships on my journey to VA that I didnít really want to fly. Ugly looking ships that I flew just because they would hold up in battle.

One of my problems is that I have started a new character and enjoyed the TOS Connie until I get to LC and then the natural upgrade would be TMP Connie. Then I was looking ahead to see which ship I would look forward to next and there does not seem to be one that I would like. If I had the option to get my Commander or even Captain ship and either purchase a skin for it to make it look like the Connie or use a retrofit token I would be able to upgrade that new ship into the rank appropriate BO slots and console slots.

Either way we would be able to fly the ship that we wanted all the way through.

There seems to be more interest in some sort of Connie compromise for the upper ranks than I thought. I have gotten a large number of PMís and in game Tellís with support. I know this game is set in the 25th Century but there are a lot of us that would not mind flying the ships we grew up to love and it is just silly to take a TOS Connie into a VA mission

Please think a little more about this. I was looking at a ship to chose for my LC once he became a Commander and up and the ships are limited. It would be nice to have a Connie retrofit to suite each level. At least that would help take care of a big group of us. I donít even care about the VA ship as long as it is at least a Rear Admiral Lower ship!
