Not that I expect it's the issue, but what graphics chipset are you running? Happen to know the make & model of the card / chip? This one's a brand new AMD A8, which, when it runs, runs very competently... Though, I seem to recall someone in a prior thread had gotten similar errors on an Nvidia chipset?

Had you been playing on this computer for a while? Or is this a new-ish install?

I think this machine has been erroring out largely since inception. I'm guessing it just took a couple days or a week to hit the first corrupt texture? Just guessing...

Just trying to figure out whether this has been a problem for you since you first installed it, or whether it's a truly NEW issues (been playing for several months or a year and JUST started erroring out)?

I've downloaded the patches, verified the files, same thing. It even generates a cruptic report. However, Holodeck works completely fine.
I'm guessing it's a corrupted patch to the Playtest texture .hogg files. So, you can delete the .hogg files in the .piggs folder of the Playtest folder THEN force verify / let it patch on the Tribble side... Can't guarantee it'll fix the problem FOREVER (we've been constantly deleting and re-patching for the last month, every few days, if not every day), but may at least alleviate it temporarily.

Until they resolve this more generally...

& Glad to know it's not just 'junior forum members' having the issue.

I'd guess an actual Trouble Ticket. Will have to go that way eventually.

Though, I kind of want to nuke the system via a restore CD first and try it one last time w/o firewall / antivirus just to make sure there wasn't some initial error due to AV that wasn't corrected by uninstalling the AV, as a last-ditch effort.

But if that doesn't fix it, then short of testing/replacing the memory (potentially costly?), I'm not sure what else to try... & at that point I'd be sorely tempted to file an official ticket & get a dev on the problem & direct them to this thread for what all's been tried to-date.

Just hoping if we do they don't make us re-do all the stuff we've already tried. ;o) Don't want to be at this for another 2 mos.

Well, although it's silly, maybe the dev's re-used a Defiant console texture in some other area & you just happened to get within range to have it pull up the texture and render it (I forget the world detail range setting in Options -> Video that determines how far away textyures get rendered?).

My new computer which can play STO works fine in all other things and has no crashes except when it comes Star Trek Online so its isolated to the game. Which makes us both believe its not really a memory/hardware issue its to focalized in one particular game I have no issues with any other websites, facebook application games (Zynga), computer programs and what not. I am really tempted to drive down to Eugene to take up "Opaserv" offer but not sure if I have exhausted all online help to fix this. What do you all think?
Actually, just because it's only happening with STO doesn't rule out a memory failure, actually it helps support the idea. None of the other applications/games you've listed use as large of a memory load as what STO does, and because of that it could be STO is hitting the bad sections and causing the corruptions where as the other programs/game may not be attempting to use those bad sections. Assuming the computer is still under warranty why not just take it back to where you bought it/ or authorized technician and have them run a full diag on everything, It should be free if you tell them what the problem is or very low cost and if it is bad memory then they can replace it.

I'm also assuming you tried to manually set the Virtual Memory higher than what windows is trying to set it as and test it to see if you're still getting the same error?

Nope, haven't tried that... Will take a look.

8GB installed RAM PC3 10600 1333 MHz.

Says system-managed size on C:\ Though, strangely, it was set to 7657. That seems weird considering it's got 8GB loaded and most sites I've seen recommend paging file 1.5x installed memory size, and usually Windows sets it to ~that size, so I'm not sure why it's NOT set to that...

I'll manually set it to 8000MB x 1.5 (12,000 MB = 12 GB). Will call it 12288 (1024 x 8 x 1.5), 'cause not sure whether to use a base 10 GB or binary GB. ;o)

Are the Dev's or anyone from Cryptic going to give us an update?

More thread that needs to be merged to this one!

I hate to rain on this parade, but I wanted to check back in with an update. As others suggested, I deleted my .hogg files from both Tribble and Holodeck and everything has been working so far.

For those that are still unable to get this working, I apologize.

I'm happy that you got it working, unfortunately that fix only works temporarily for me. I'll get about 5 minutes back in game if I'm lucky. I really wish Cryptic would talk to us about it. Just because you ignore the pain doesn't mean there isn't an injury.
