I'm personally hoping it handles more like a Sovereign/Excelsior-R, more tactically orientated.

I used to love flying the Sovvy, until I started flying escorts on my Fed Tac. Currently flying an Advanced Escort with MVAM console on my Fed Eng and love it!

I was hoping the Sovvy would have gotten a revamp after the Excelsior-R came out, it being more tactically able than the Sovvy is a pet peeve of mine.

Looking at the ship comparison chart on another forum, the Odyssey will still be smaller than the largest permutation of starcruiser already in the game. I fly a starcruiser with the Nomad saucer and nacelles, and the Vanguard midsection and it is enormous.

From the amount of Sovvy's I've flown side by side with I would say that the new Odyssey would only be a fraction larger than its predecessor.

Thanks Davey. Pup'em je means "Kicks Behind", then? Excellent. I'm naming my ship that! :p

What's the betting it'll be just like the Enterprise-B and something goes horribly rong furing the skaedown cruise. We could in fact brng the Nexus into the game now that it's now...'ahem'...2410...

Bet the Klingons or Borg interfere in some way, or even the Dominion to be a prequel to the new FE series.

The IDIC pendant was specifically introduced into the show, specifically, so that Roddenberry (through his family's side business "Lincoln Enterprises") could sell merchandise for Star Trek. Roddenberry famously wrote lyrics to the Star Trek theme (never used, thank goodness) so that he could claim 50% of the royalties every time Alexander Courage's theme was used.

As nice as it is to try and use Roddenberry as some kind of saintly prophet for utopian socialism.. the reality is simply that Roddenberry himself seems to have pioneered the idea or profiting from the minutia of Star Trek. In effect, he invented the C-Store.

Don't get me wrong. I spent a day crying when Gene died. (hell, I think I was more shaken by that, than by 9/11). His message was great, but like all of us, he was a product of his own era, and that's the era in which he had to live, and provide for his family.
I think He had a great imagination, a great vision, but it was us, the fans that took that vision and breathed life into that universe.

I think that for so many, Star Trek is what we wished we WERE like.
The average Joe or Jane, who wishes countries could put aside their petty differences and get down to the important business of developing warp drive, so we all can fly.

The funny thing, after the introduction of flip cell phones and I pads, It's clear as ever to me that Star Trek has influenced real life, tech wise anyway. Who knows, maybe Star Trek will in other ways too.
That's what I wish to celebrate on the anniversary.

That and the fact that I'm TOTALLY gonna get me an Odyssey !

I've got a Sci character, I hope it has a universal slot so he can fit nicely into it.

I hope the Odyssey has the normal material options; I personally don't think the white skin looks great on it.

And I just created a Klingon character just so I could get a Bortas. Hopefully it's an account unlock.
