The Captain Level Galaxy should have been the explorer/engineer ship and how the current retro fit is and the Retro should have been a Battleship with this lay out

4 fore and aft weapon slots
4 engineer consoles
3 science
3 Tactical

Boff
either
2 x lt tactical or 1 x lt commander Tactical
1x commander engineer
1 x lt command engineer
1 x lt science

drop the ensign engineer slot.

Or better yet keep the same configuration but still drop the ensign engineer slot and go this way

1 x lt tactical
1 x commander engineer
1 x lt commander universal slot (can be used for engineer/tactical or science)
1 x lt commander science giving the ensign engineer to science

Whats peoples thoughts i want a Galaxy not a Galaxy-x that is not a liability in PvE Elite runs.

The Galaxy was a beast during the Dominion War forget the Oddessey that was pre-war tensions
100% agree, the galaxys turn rate makes it one of the most unhandy ships in the game, so giving it a bit more teeth or flexibilty would be a step into the right direction.
In STO the Galaxy is just a big flying target, giving it a universal Lt. Cmdr Station would place her in between the Assault Cruiser and the Star Cruiser (where the Galaxy class should be).

Btw. For me, the Odysseys Captain always was the best representative examaple of a incompetent Starfleet Captain. This fool never should have been given command of a ship.
(On the other hand, the dominion would have never looked like a threat if the Odyssey would have torn the jem Haddar ships into pieces. )

ESPECIALLY considering, that at the time of the Odyssey's destruction, the Jem'Hadar could still shoot through federation shields and the federation ships weren't prepared for polaron weapons (appearently they were a big deal)

Right, but instead of making 3 or 4 different ship variants they should have made it just one with lots of options (looks AND BO layout).
It doesn't matter how much Galaxy Variants the devs make, that ship we have just isn't a satsifying Galaxy Class interpretation IMHO.

It has for me. The Galaxy class (to me) was nothing much more than a Carnival Cruiseship with phasers. It even had a Captain Steuben lookalike to boot. It was designed when the Federation was at total peace, and that ship design reflected that. It was a long range explorer, not much else. It was never supposed to be in solo combat with a true military threat.

I am OP. This argument is not valid. Galaxy-X works fine and is a monster in the proper hands.

Any upgrade in strength, while I wouldn't shun it, would mean there wouldn't be a player or ship in game capable of standing a chance in hell.

the only similarity between the galaxy in game and the one in the shows is that they look similar. the galaxy is the largest the most power battleship star fleet has ever created, it was designed wile the federation was fighting 3 wars, and it has yet to be topped by anything canon or soft canon. its completely modular inside allowing for striped down battleship variants, decedent luxury cruise ship variants (this was the D, the flagship has to be stunning after all), and literally anything in between. its weapons are without peer, it has the 2 largest and highest burst capacity torpedo launchers of any ship class, and the longest most powerful phaser arrays.

throughout tng it was always written as the underdog because there wouldn't have been any suspense otherwise. in generations the script called for the D to die, they had a real convenient bop explosion effect they made for the last movie, and they were to cheap to give the D a real opponent so bop it is! that single full array discharge phaser blast fired at the bop should have been like an anti material round through an engine block, killing it dead in 1 hit. the single torpedo did the same thing soon after.

in ds9 they wanted the dominion to be scary, how better then to have the dominion blow up a galaxy class! script called for it to die, vfx made it look like a chump and get whooped by 3 flies 1/100th its size that it should have been able to swat like bugs. at least from then on in ds9 they were steamrollers. well anyway, the more you know.

Yeah.... I'm not buying that.

The Sovereign class is by far the most powerful ship Starfleet has ever created canonicly, and the one flagship that has been more a warship than any other.

Her firepower is vastly superior to that of even a Galaxy class starship.
The Sovereign has 5 times the torpedo launchers, one of them being completely dedicated to Quantum Torpedoes, the highest yield torpedoes Starfleet has in their arsenal.
