Okay, well, this thing is a beast. It's got great defensive and offensive power. Sadly it's turn rate makes flying this thing around the levels of fun one normally associates with severe testicular injury. No way I'd swap out of my Vor'cha for this. It has more teeth, and feels a bit tankier, but it's turn rate is too low to be tolerable.

I'm not sure what this ship is supposed to be. The Odyssey is for the Feds, the best healer and toughest ship in game period.

This ship? It may have 4 tactical consoles, and can run a tac LTC, but it has no choice but to be a beam boat thanks to its turn rate. The Vor'cha can use dual cannons and despite the BOFF deficiencies, I think it would put out more DPS because of the DCs.

The Bortas is definitely not a healer either. It lacks science console slots to buff shield heals.

Its also not as tough as the Odyssey, despite having more hull, the Odyssey's shields put it well above the Bortas in terms of durability.

This ship seems to want to be a heavy escort, but its not because it doesn't have the turn rate to support the mounting of DCs. The turn rate is also uncharacteristically low for a battle cruiser. It should be 8, a step down from the Negh'var. If it had a turn of 8 then it could possibly be forced into using dual cannons and be a bit unwieldy, but to an expert pilot it could be very unique.

My opinion is that this ship does not fill a unique niche for the KDF, doesn't bring anything sufficiently new and useful to the table for them, and frankly isn't that good at what it does.

I guess I ask this question, why build a beam boat for DPS? Why not just get an escort? If you want a good beam boat that does decent DPS and heals, why not just use Negh'var or the Orion cruiser? If you want a tanky DPS boat, why not a Vor'cha?

Im going to have to agree. It is severely lacking in sci consoles. to be worthy of my sci mains to use it.
Now dont get me wrong, I will collect it on all my chars. Its free afterall. That and its mere existance makes feds eyes watery. For no good reason.

does everything think its still season 4? science consoles do not effect healing at all anymore. have you looked at your halon consoles lately? they aren't boosting hazard systems, hazard systems no longer exist! the bortas could have 0 science consoles and the odyssey could have 4 and they would both have the same ability to heal.

He's referring to Emitter Arrays, which boost shield heals.

by the tiniest bit. nothing compared to what a tactical console boosts

The problem isn't magnitude (though that comes into play) the problem is nature.

A tactical console buffs the damage of every associated shot, and of every associated weapon-based power (since those powers increase the damage you're already doing by a percentage). It's pretty much double dipping. You're getting what amounts to a constant passive damage bonus that comes into play every time your weapons cycle, and one that is magnified by the use of your offensive powers.

The Emitter Array, however, just boosts active shield heals by buffing the associated skill. That's it. You get a benefit from it every 45 seconds or so when your shield heals (and shield only, not hull heals) come off of cooldown. You don't get any passive shield cap increase, no passive shield resist increase, not even a passive shield regeneration increase I don't believe.

And that Emitter Array is probably going to be the only console worth slotting. One. Singular. And the Odyssey has three slots. I'm not super-awesome at math but I'm still able to note a dearth of viable console candidates and an overabundance of places to stuff them.

they need to completely re do science consoles, its as simple as that. till then stop ruining non science vessels with an over abundance of them. im kinda glad the bug ship and bortas have these console setups, now im not the only one complaining about how worthless science consoles are, as seen in one of the links in my sig, and its a popular complaint and might get dev attention.

This. If you have to use 4 RCS consoles and constantly use aux2id just to play anything else than a beam boat... At least Vo'quv has fighters.

I guess no one runs power drain nowadays.

I will gladly accept all the useless Beam target shield 3s from you all.

Also Give me all your( not you personally) cpb3 bridge officers
I can also use free rare mk 11 particle emitters.
I dont use fbp but if i do its going to violate your mom. (not you personally just a saying)
