I seem to remember that same space station disappearing for certain people once before and leaving a few bits behind, fixable by sitting through a force-verify.

This.
Methinks J'mpok was a little overzealous in wanting to get his new BortaS out and about the sector.

I have a different theory. Chancellor Jem'pok was on board the new flagship on the day it first flew out of space dock. Because it was a special occasion, he and everyone else aboard celebrated by drinking lots of bloodwine. As a result, everyone got super drunk Then, when the captain decided to take Bortas out for a little target practice, that space dock looked a lot like like space debris. To the chancellor, who was also on the bridge when the spack dock was being targeted, the spack dock still looked very familiar, but he ultimately said, "to hell with it. Blast it to stovokor!"

Huh. I actually only had to go down to 188%, but I dont understand that. Why would something disappear at a greater distance? That seems like the opposite of how it should work.
