Forgive me if there is a thread on this, I couldn't find anything that discussed this specific topic about the EPS flow regulators.

Do the EPS consoles still off-set the weapon power drain from using multiple energy weapons?

I've heard rumors about this, but never a confirmation. I know that they are good for switching between power settings. But nothing about it actually being useful with beam boats or escort gun boats.

Thanks!

No they do not. They do help though when using a power like Beam Overload though.

Though it really depends on your play style... If you use Beam Overload, you change power profiles often, or like to charge into combat using Full Impulse, then the EPS console can be a god-send... If your self-disciplined enough to avoid these issues, feel free to switch to something more useful...

also if your cloak into battle the EPS regulator will help your sheilds reach full power more quickly as well.

Actually they do a tinsey, tiney bit. You net a little bit of energy recovery. But it defintely not worth wasting an engineering slot only for that purpose.

I mainly us the EPS regulators for: Quicker recharge after running full impluse., quick shield recharge after cloaking, and quickly switching from my custom settings to something like full speed/attack/defense settings.

back when EPS flow actually was necessary for beam boats I had almost every eng slot filled with them on my cruisers.... now i only use 1.

Yeah, they used to be practically mandatory, back in the day.

They're much less useful now, but I still use one on my sci ship just so I can reach my normal power levels faster after full impulse, and also because I cycle between weapons and aux often enough to make it worthwhile. It's still a nice thing to have, you just don't need to stack 2 (or even 3) like you used to.
