The new Odyssey class is a beautiful ship, and I'm actually very much looking forward to its entrance into the game. It, more than any design I have seen so far fits the Tactical Captain I had originally worked on the best, at least in terms of bridge officer layout and so forth.

That being said, the Star Cruiser is meant to be a futuristic, heavy cruiser meant as a major platform for deep space exploration. I know it isn't for everyone, but I know quite a few people (like myself) have always thought it is a beautiful ship. I'd love to see more tinkering available for this design in the future. The new odyssey and the Star Cruiser both have a 'Fish-like' design that I love. That perhaps explains why I think the Nausicaan models are so fantastic. At any regard, I'd love to see a 5+ Star Cruiser retrofit some day, and I'm just weighing in my opinion here. I'd hate to see this design go by the wayside as the game develops in the future, when it could be properly retrofitted to grow with the game. That is all.

Based on the Odyssey template I am assuming eventually all T5 ships will get a +1 counterpart in the C-Store just as they Odyssey is getting.

I 100% absolutely agree.
I like the Star Cruiser design very much, i think it is the most elegant Starfleet vessel besides the galaxy class and like you i hope that the introduction of the Odyssey Class doesn't mean that the Star Cruiser will fall into oblivion.
It's a shame that both ships (Galaxy and star Cruiser) turn Rate are equivalent to the turn rate of a small moon .
Sadly i have very little patience, so both ships are just too slow turning for my taste.

Don't tell anyone but in my opinion the devs should have forgot about the sovereign and make the Star Cruiser the new standard Cruiser of the 25th century from the beginning.
(by giving it a universal Lt. Cmdr BO Officer and one or two universal Console slots, so it could have some offensive value.)

Maybe this is a stupid question, but what do you mean with +1?

I hope that somewhen all ships will get a Lt. Cmdr (or Cmrd.) universal Station, and at least one universal Console slot (but not more than 4 of the same kind).

I too use a Escort (Advanced Escort) but i fly it as if it where a cruiser, and its really fun. PLUS it looks much really good.

You are right there could be more Escorts, but this is Star Trek and in MY opinion Star Trek focuses mainly on cruiser like starships, even the USS Voyager was something like a light cruiser (unlike in STO).
Flying like a jetfighter in space is just not Star Trek in my eyes, other Sci Fi francises are much better suited for something like this IMHO.
But thats just my opinion.

The ship Variants in the game which are sold in the C-Store: Venture, Exeter, etc are referred to as +1 ships because they're slightly better then the stock version players get for free.

Many thanks.

To get equal to the Odyssey all Cruisers have to get a bit more then just one console more, or a gimmicky console IMHO. There must be something done about the unflexibility of all (well most) Starship BO layouts in this game, which bothers me since the beginning.

The Odyssey's number of Consoles and BOFF make up is not really any different then any other T5 ship. +1 ships tend to have an extra Console beyond the norm and one of the BOFFs will have an extra Rank of ability. The only thing that really makes the Odyssey unique are the Universal BOFF slots.

Science Vessels are a plenty. The escort group technically is missing an extra ship due to the rare availability of the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship. But they all come out about even in terms of number of ships if you count Odyssey.

I'd pretty much argue that the Odyssey is the next step in Star cruiser evolution.
