# 1 Omega Force Set?

I am wondering what my fellow Captains think about the Omega Force set for ships. I have looked at it and cannot quite wrap my head around what sort of ship or play style it would really be useful for.

It seems to have a nice bonus with the Tetryon Glider and its Turn-Rate Disabler is a nice trick but nothing that a Tractor Beam or Warp Plasma could not accomplish just as well. Its engine is nice and fast but the power boost from the MACO set to your engines would probably make up for that with fair ease. Its special speed and turn rate boost seems like it would be HORRIBLE. It would let you get around faster, yes, but it would be spurratic making it like having a bad Driver's ED student at the helm. I suppose some could handle that better but I would find it very disconcerting to randomly be faster and more agile and then lose it. The Regenerative Shields cannot compete with the MACO or Honor Guard sets for sheer punishment absorption....

It is SUGGESTED that this set is for Escort type ships to run in and attack and then retreat but I rarely find that this is how it really works in an Escort. With how weak this set is at keeping you alive you would be at serious risk of Popping before you could deliver your damage and it does not really seem to boost your DPS in any real way. MACO would allow you more weapon's power and some serious staying power to hammer a foe with. Zipping in and shooting up an enemy and then running just does not seem to be very effective as if it does not pop the enemy in that first go then they will just heal before you can do it again.

It does seem like it COULD be good for a BoP but the HG set looks much better yet for a BoP. They cannot be having damage to their weak hull and being harder to keep a target lock on a BoP is a big win for them. With the HG engine a BoP is INSANE in its turn rate making it one of the most slippery ships around.

Considering this set requires the same sort of effort to get as the others what would ever make you want to use it? What is its real benefit over the others? What is the sort of ship/tactics this set could honestly be useful for?

Gravitic Anchor is pretty borked at the moment. Instead of disabling turn rate, it greatly increases a ships ability to turn while locking the ship's velocity (lets starships strafe and face their targets), and also has the odd side affect of causing stationary enemies to face you, such as transwarp gates and cubes. Pretty funny actually. It's only usefulness at the moment is lowering a target's defense and kinetic resistance.

I fly an escort. Omega is an improvement for me from the Borg set in terms of damage. I've yet to try the MACO set but I plan to soon.

That DOES sound funny. Now I want to see that in action. Getting a group to make a Gate Spin would be epic if caught on Video.

However, it does seem kinda eh in its stats and the lack of anyone really coming forth seems to reinforce it... The MACO set looks awesome for Escorts. The Borg Set is awesome for cruisers I have found.
