I was APPALLED to find that the Bridge didn't even have the ship's Commissioning Plaque! They've gone to all the trouble to give us an interior to aimlessly wonder around in but they've omitted the Plaque.

Its also a bit sad that we go to all the trouble to design Our and Bridge Officers Uniforms, and then the rest of the crew wear drab standard issue kit.

The Captains uniform should become the ships' crew uniform template.

I also didn't get saluted once! I'm the Captain and an Admiral no less...

Oh and one more thing, the shelves in the Ready Room - I would have thought that there would be more than 2 available, there is the space. Also that the Ships available would include your own previous ships

Well thats my 5c worth...back to blowing things up.
It would be nice to have more work done on them, but it's not a high priority.

Just to note, not all bridges are missing the plaque. The Constitution bridge for example has one, but for others, there's the issue of what it would say on it, and the tech currently isn't there to customize it. I'm sure it would be possible to add in, but again, low priority considering the time it would take vs the significance of the results.

Also, I never once remember a Captain in any of the shows walking around his own ship in the corridors and people stopping to salute him. People always just kept on going.

As for the shelves, if you go to your Ten Forward, you'll find additional shelves you customize there, along with a floor trophy section to display your larger rewards from Fleet Actions, Accolades, and GPL.

I completely agree on the captains base template becoming the standard for the crew. But having the crew salute every where I go during a 5 year mission to boldly...ah, please no. Do you know how tiring that gets, both for the officers and the enlisted ranks in a real ships environment?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The Salute observation came about from ESD where they do salute when you go past the conference area.

The missing textures are definitely a DX11 issue. I can live with it, even after the last patch that purported to fix it; but hasn't.

I don't actually think the Commissioning Plaque would be all that difficult at all, each bridge would need a plaque tag added so that the plaque would be sensibly placed. Other than that the plaque wording would only need 1 or 2 variables added so that the Ships Name would be inserted, and perhaps the Star-date the player Named the ship when they got their hands on it at the star base. Programming child's play...

I'll have to better look around Ten Forward and see if I can find those things

Except the plaques look like words engraved on metal, and they are currently a graphic, not simple text, which needs to scale properly depending how close or far away you are. It would be really hard to get variable text to show up properly on the right spot, scale, and not look like it was just computer text printed overtop a metal graphic.

Actually it wouldn't be hard at all. One method would be to use graphic font elements thus the variable data is built from the same graphic elements as the rest of the plaque text. From a sizing point of view, artistic licence - put the variable data on separate lines.

The other less detailed option is to use the Plaque that is used on the Bridge during the Mission 'Decisions, Decisions'. Its plainly a plaque; but its not readable.
