So this ship is supposed to be the best and supposed to be versatile. Lets see if that holds true. Post your Set up. BO layout and consoles if you want and tell us how you think it performed.

Mine:

Captain Class: Engineer

Com E: ET1, EmPtS2, EjWP1, SIF3
Lt. Com U (went science): HE1, TR1, GW1
Lt. S: HE1, TSS2
Lt. T: BFaW1, HYT2
En. S: ST1

Consoles:
Engineering: RCS, Ablative Hull Armor, Neutronium alloy, one more alloy/armor
Science: Shield emitter, and shield regen, Borg universal console
Tac: Phaser relay and generic booster

Weapons loadout:
2 MkXI purple phasers in front, 1 phaser DBB Mk xi purple, and purple mk xi quantums in front
3 Mk xi purple phaser and 1 mk xi purple tricobalt aft

Performance assesment: Scale 1-10 (1 being junk it and 10 being unbeatable)

7-8 based on the fact I was doing patrols in B'Tran and fought a cube on elite difficulty and survived without dying once and took down the cube fairly quickly. She has weaknesses but not many. I got thit for 44k of damage by the cube and was able to fight out of that. Having that many heals on different timers helps.

Overall this ship turned out better then expected for me at least.

I'm still debating my BOFF layout but my consoles run;

Eng = 4x RCS (may downgrade to 2 or 3 depending and sub in hull armor)
Sci = +35 shield console, a +1 console of some type or other, and Borg Console
Tac = ZP Quantum Chamber & Phaser Relay

And My Weapons;

Fore; 1x Phaser DBB, 1x Q-Torp launcher, 2x arrays
Aft 1x Q-torp Launcher 3x Arrays

Rating;

I can't properly rate since most of my listed consoles are sub-par mark and rarity right now, most of my weapons are white quality, and I can't settle on a BOFF layout.

Sad fact of having previously flown an escort on this captain.

I tried a lot of skill variations as a tac captain. I can honestly say this isn't a tac cruiser (a lot of people, myself included, already figured as much, but there is the "We don't know until we test it for real on the live server" crowd).

With a tac in the universal slot, the thing was a flying coffin. Just on elite missions, I couldn't keep up with incoming damage like I could with any other cruiser, and I couldn't run away like I would in an escort. I could out damage my excelsior with 5 tac powers to work with, but the cost was too high.

Also tried an engineer and science officer in there. I can definitely see the fun in having gravity well on a cruiser, but I just didn't have the firepower to do anything to them while I had them trapped in the gravity well. I'll have to try that in the Bortas, where I will have the firepower.

Definitely not a good pick for a tac cruiser.

Agreed on it not being a tac cruiser. She's a science cruiser through and through. The +10 to auxillary gave that away. I want to see if anyone can make it work any other way. I am having fun with gravity well and tykens rift. To help out the damage is one reason I rear mounted a tricobalt. With 54k hull I can take a hit at close range and easily live to tell the tale, and 12-20k damage is fairly good dps when you add in everything else.

Not too horribly. Like I said, I could do pretty good damage, and that wasn't with a huge amount of forethought going into the build. It was basically a race to zero, but it was a race I could win.

Well here is what I made out of the Odyssey, quick and dirty with my engineer cruiser captain.

Tac LT: FAW 1, FAW 2
Tac LTC: Tac team 1, APB 1, APB 2
Eng Com: EPTW 1, EPTS 2, EPTS 3, Aux to SIF 3
Sci LT: HE 1, TSS 2
Sci Ens: Polarize hull 1

I took it through the STFs, first with the same weapons on my excelsior, a dual beam bank, fore and aft torpedoes and 5 beam arrays. Despite using 3 turn consoles, the Odyssey was still a brick and I couldn't use those torpedoes, especially since I was using the tac LTC that would have my aux to dampners on the eng LTC. So I went and swapped the torpedoes with 2 more arrays.

It got a lot of attention, and did enough damage to tank the Cure Carrier to about 60% until a tac/escort took aggro and fully tanked Donatra in KA despite escorts there (though not tac/escorts). Also I have no points in threat control, so this was raw DPS tanking.

For survivability, I didn't have a huge problem, except when I had the attention of multiple spheres and a gate at the same time, but never died. I did hit RSF a few times, but a tac could probably switch polarize hull for another TSS to make up for that. I didn't need miracle worker either, so it wasn't lacking much in tankability. Had I used 3 neutronium armors instead of RCS consoles I'm sure that it would tank even better.

Overall, it just proves to me that yes this ship can DPS nicely without a real loss of survivability, at least in PVE.

to get away quickly....switch all your power to engine then hit evasive maneuvers.
