Sci LT: HE 1, TSS 2
Sci Ens: Polarize hull 1

I took it through the STFs, first with the same weapons on my excelsior, a dual beam bank, fore and aft torpedoes and 5 beam arrays. Despite using 3 turn consoles, the Odyssey was still a brick and I couldn't use those torpedoes, especially since I was using the tac LTC that would have my aux to dampners on the eng LTC. So I went and swapped the torpedoes with 2 more arrays.

It got a lot of attention, and did enough damage to tank the Cure Carrier to about 60% until a tac/escort took aggro and fully tanked Donatra in KA despite escorts there (though not tac/escorts). Also I have no points in threat control, so this was raw DPS tanking.

For survivability, I didn't have a huge problem, except when I had the attention of multiple spheres and a gate at the same time, but never died. I did hit RSF a few times, but a tac could probably switch polarize hull for another TSS to make up for that. I didn't need miracle worker either, so it wasn't lacking much in tankability. Had I used 3 neutronium armors instead of RCS consoles I'm sure that it would tank even better.

Overall, it just proves to me that yes this ship can DPS nicely without a real loss of survivability, at least in PVE.
Not a bad build. I was actually happy with my DPS just using the Lt tac slots... gravity well and TR can actually generate a fair amount of damage and combined with warp plasma has some interesing combinations.

Being honest. I played escort classes up to vice, Only had time to play with this ship a few times. In my opinion its not that bad. lose some tact options that i was using. with that being said I like this ship. have mostly Phasers set on mine. in the few missions that i have played and the engineering set to sheilds. I haven't lost yet. The damage is low but that is to be expected with sub-par weapons but with the sheilds high i really can't complain.

The bad thing is this ship is HUGE and has nothing for turning so i find it better to circle at max range and with the emergancy power to sheilds and the warp plasma II i really don't have much of a problem with PvE. I use my Multivector for PvP and am currently working on getting better weaponry for my odyssey.

All in all i find this ship decent all around nothing specific for the game but still a decent ship in terms of weapons and sheilds and surbibabillity.

It's squishy. IMO it needs to have double the hull, along with all the cruisers. I use it to do extra damage, because I don't think it's good at recieving it.

What I put on mine is top secret, but i use it to hold aggro and rarely get blown up. About the only thing that kills me is a misclick on my part or when an elite borg unit does a BS torpedo attack (you know, those fancy ones that can't be shot down but kill you even if you're at 100% hull and shields -_-)

I like to call those invisible icebergs when I'm doing an elite STF in my Titani... Err odyssey .

I had three major problems with the oddesy class in general:

* That incredibly slow turn rate
* "out of the box" setup designates it as a broadband beam barge
* conventional cruiser setups simply dont work.

How i fixed it:

First off rather than fight her issues i embraced them, the Oddy is a wonderfully hard to kill ship, shes tough to a fault in the hands of an engineer making her an excellent tank and in the hands of a scientist she can DPS and dominate on a level on par with anything else in the fleet...though you do need to adapt your play-style a little.

Current set for STF (science):

Fore:
1x type X (or better) Antirproton beam arrays
2x type X (or better) Antiproton Dual Beams
1x Type X (or better) Advance Quantum Torpedo

Aft:
3x type X (or better) Antiproton beam arrays
1x type X (or better) Advance Quantum Torpedo

Shields/nav/engines:
Omega force system (full set is needed for bonus's)

Additional:
* antiproton boost console
* Energy weapon boot console
* Qunatum torpedo boost console
* Turnrate Boost console

Misc. bonus consoles:
* Cloaking Device (Galaxy Dreadnought)
* grappler (NX-01)
* Red matter device (pre order)

BOFF skills:
* Overload Beam
* Fire at will (beam)
* torpedo spread
* Science team (shield repair)
* Emergency power to shields
* Emergency power to weapons
* Tractor beam (type 2 or better)
* Tetrion beam

With this setup you can focus on broadside and direct fore damage while leaving the ability to fire along a wide range broadside upon retreat.
Now when it comes to retreat and broadsiding and simple crowd control tractor beams and (if you have it) the grappler console come in incredibly useful when combined with your aft beam arrays and a full quantum spread can devastate a wounded enemy and massively diminish a more powerful enemy.

The full frontal barrage from dual beam setups as well as the array can break most smaller ships with little to no effort and with fire at will and beam overload you can rip most enemy's in STF's a new one with little effort.

Warning:
Beam arrays in general are NOT as powerful as dual beams or canons but given the sheer bulk and frankly bus like turning circle of the ship arrays are not only needed but downright demanded when it comes to playing on this type of cruiser.

You are a ******n bus remember that you will NOT be able to scoot about so remember to cover your sides and your backsides with "fire at will" and pinning your enemy with tractors while you evasive away and bring your big guns into play.

Stealth is your friend, if you happen to have a cloak then use it, hide behind your tanks and bide your time so you can pop up and use your virtual fleet and bring your weapons into the near perfect 45 degree fore firing arc. or your 180 degree broadside arc.

Don't fire first, your burst damage can and will draw attention especially on your broadside as you will draw way too much attention, that said shes a big ship and can take a pounding so if you keep your shields rotated and balanced and have your emrg. shield power and science teams on standby you can risk opening up a little.

this is just my opinion and based on my own personal play-style feel free to adapt these findings at will.

To be fair there's hardly any pure damage tanking when some skills cause huge amounts of aggro. Did you test it on normal or elite?

Hehe, the funny thing is I was considering naming my Odyssey after Titanic or one of her two sisters.

Not that I'm aware of.

AFAIK the armor, saucer separation, MVAM, and cloak are restricted to their respective ships.
