The last ship that suffered that problem didn't have triple monotanium armor plating.

Yeah it's not as if we would use over 100 year old starships... oh wait nevermind.

Also who knows what happened to them during this 40 years. Moreover with 2800 ships the Dominion might decide to join the fight (in a more or less open way).

Actually I beg to differ, the Jem Hedar were years in advance in regards to technology, this was proven in the war itself. They plowed through the Alpha quadrant like a stampeding herd of wild Buffalos. There achilles heel were their lack of overwhelming numbers in the Alpha quadrant. They needed both assistance from the Cardassians and Breens to gain a foothold in the Alpha Quadrant.

Alos keep in mind that theoretically the 2800 were probably more advance models than their Alpha cousins, probably advance in technology, of course this is all theoretical. Remember that the Alphas were stuck behind enemy lines and could not get resupplied due to Rom's mine field.

Also: The current state of the Federation is in shambles due to the Federation and Klingon war. That is why you see many outdated retro ships in Fed space. These ships are:

A) Miranda Class
B) Shikar Class
C) Centaur Class
D) Excelsior Class
F) Constitution Class
G) Cheyenne Class and its variants
H) Nebula Class and its variants
I) The outdated Defiant Escorts and its variants
K) The extremely outdated Oberth Class (Possibly used now for training missions)
L) The Connie
M) The outdated Sovereign Class and its variants
N) Vulcan science vessel (a slightly upgraded version of its ancient cousin/but still outdated)

The only real upgrades are the Whales / Promethius (old / but was previous an experimental project refined) / The newly introduced Odessay Class (Few and far between) / and those PUGLY Non-canon escorts.

So yeah the Federation have fallen on hard times, its my best bet the Klingon Empire is kicking Fed Booty - Spank that butt - QAPLA!!!

Random Ensign - "Their power levels is OVER 9,000!!!!!"

Sisko should have moved the entire DS9 into the wormhole

but of course, in their hasty retreat, the Jemy's fried the entire place.

I am not understanding the reference to the 2800, and the 2800 returns. I must have missed that part in DS9.
As earlier mentioned it's the amount of troops (ships) that went *poof* in the wormhole...

However it seems to also be a reference to the 4400 (the series), where alot of people mysteriously dissapear, and then later reappear with out explaination on how...

Since DS9 is a mining station and not a battle station, it is not exactly strong, and cant really withstand going into the wormhole.

The event providing the Odyssey class is gone (someone seems to have taken it down prematurely), and the 2800 series wont launch for another 5 days.

The Klingons did a decent amount of damage to DS9, and took its shields down faster than the dominion invasion fleet, dispite being fewer in numbers during "Way of the Warriror"...

Sure DS9 has a decent amount of firepower, but thats only because of the refit. But the wery structure of DS9 is not strong by design.
