According to some testers that tried that out on Tribble, no, it's not compatible.

Do note, however, that the current in-game model is fully detailed for the purpose of saucer separation. If you use the demo-record free camera to move 'through' the ship, you may notice the top of the stardrive section and its twin beam arrays, some grating and the nook where the saucer's ventral impulse engines are located.

I do not see why people complain. I fly an Odyssey and keep wining Fleet Actions even with Escorts in. Coming top or very near top in DPS and tank for PvP and have no problem in Elite STF's. So why are people complaining? It seem to have high DPS and tank.

It does, it has a Lieutenant Commander universal slot.

You are mistaken. The odyssey does have a universal LTC slot. Only the ensign universal slot was removed. That was removed during tribble testing. You can read the tribble forum for the specifics.

Actually, science works very well for the Odyssey-class, but the ship in general isn't such a great vehicle if you play for DPS, which is, of course, critical in STFs. I just came from one in which we had three science captains in Odysseys and we had a hard time dealing damage. On the other hand, our escorts scarcely got scratched because I was able to pull aggro on everything and just sponge up the damage. Tactical cube couldn't touch me.

The ship is of no use to my tactical captain, but that's because people haven't realized yet that the Odyssey-class is specced to tank and support, not act as a main damage-dealer. Put some points into threat generation, slot a LCDR Science or Engineering with heals and buffs, get a couple of escorts to back you up, and you're suddenly the linchpin of any big battle in an STF setting. Tactical cubes, the carrier, the Scimitar - your escorts can ream them with impunity while you soak everything they throw at you and laugh at how little it does.

The craze will die down soon and people will go back to their escorts.

I haven't tried it with my sci character yet. You can tank like non other but if everyone is flying one you will like to never get the missions done. You could do more damage suiting up your crew and putting them on your outter hull with sling shots and harsh words. My tac does ok damage comparing ody. to ody. but at the end of the day the ship is a big fat boring failure. The excelsior is STILL superior to this ship. What a let down.

The Odyssey can be a very potent ship, if you know how to balance it out properly. I've been using it to great effect in STFs, but I run a rolling fire BOff setup with it as an Engineer. Right now I have a Lt Cmdr tac BOff with FAW2 and HY3, and the LT slot stacked with BO1 and Spread 2, so I constantly have a large volume of fire going out on anything I'm targeting. I have been debating on switching the BO1 to a FAW1 to increase the volume of fire going out from the ship to keep that volume of fire at its maximum. For it's meager turn rate, my Commander engineer has Aux2ID to buff its turn every 30 seconds, and EWP3 to keep targets where I want them. I've also seen Sci captains utilize this beautiful cruiser to great effect with its universal setup, allowing for higher end science debuffs, but when I've seen tactical captains run it, it was pretty lackluster in their hands. But hey, I've also seen some tactical captains make excellent use of them.

What it boils down to is how your skill tree is set, what BOff powers you run, and your own skill. Elite optionals are achievable with Odyssey(s) in your team. I had myself and one other in a team last night, and we nailed the KA Space Elite optional.

If you're having issues with the elite STFs, don't blame mechanics, blame the skilless people who don't know what components are and haven't a bloody clue how to do the STF. Easiest thing? Start friending good players and run pre-made STFs, it'll make your life a lot easier. Odyssey pilots or not.
