With all the long-time players here, I wonder: Has anyone figured out what the maximum amount of Damage Per Second that you can have in STO is? How much can a ship possibly deal against one target if built specifically for it?

Both, actually. Any build that will maximise DPS is welcome, and let's see how high the numbers can possibly get.

Or is this something nobody ever does?

hmmm I think a tac captain in an escort with ap cannons would stand the best bet of high damage

Tac with 2 DHCs, 1 DBB, 1 Tricobalt
- APA/GDF/TacFleet
- Beta 3
- HYT 3
- BO 3
- RF 1

Sustained:

Tac with all of the above buffs and 4x DHCs + 3x turrets
- RF 3
- Beta 2
- DEM 1

Well, let's do the math:

A mark XII Dual Cannon deals 256 DPS. An escort or a cruiser will have 4 slots firing forward, so that is 1024 DPS base, with skills and abilties adding their lot. (But I am too new to STO to know exactly what would be the best combination). Let us say the ship in question also has 4 Mk XII Antiproton turrets aft, for 4*132=528 DPS.

That is a total of 1552 DPS against a single target that is unfortunate enough to be directly in front of our damage dealer.

By comparison, a cruiser firing a broadside with 8 Mk XII Beam arrays deals 176*8=1408 DPS. Base damage, again.

What multipliers can be applied to those?

Edit: By comparison, a setup with 4 Photon torpedo launchers fore and 4 turrets aft will max out at 2368 DPS. Against targets directly in front of it only, that is, and of course, Photon torpedoss will only deal real damage if the target's shields are down.

If I may ask: At what number of DPS do you get with that, precisely, and how?

No idea what the actual numbers are.

The actual values and implementation are dependent upon how you're testing it. Are you going against a moving target? A stationary one? One that has shields or one that doesn't? Will your target be healing themselves? Do they have shield/hull resists?

But as for 'how' to get the highest DPS; just set the weapons to autofire, and time it such that your Beam Overload hits a split second before your torpedo impacts, to ensure that shields are down.
