Unbelievable truly unbelievable
You know they are too meek to say things like this in real life.

However, I do see both sides of the argument here. Cryptic is the servant of two masters, Trying to come up with new content that keeps old players around, and making sure the servers are stable, which takes time to test said new content.

Personally, I'd rather have to wait a few more weeks for STABLE new content than have autofire break and the servers start crashing all over the place like Iranian ballistic missiles.

But I'm not sweating it. If they keep it up people will just start to cast votes with their "feet" so to speak.

How we are in real life is of no consequence in here... If real world also crashes on saturday night, you can bet i'll rage just as loudly in real life!

You can whine, kick and scream all you want which i am sure cryptic are probably doing about now judging by the earlier reply of "Fixing the problem is more important than fixing a forum typo". If you have ever had the chance to be in that enviroment its REALLY stressful for some people in the job although i was a GM so found it highly amusing watching the others run around like headless chickens.

Just sit back chill for a minute and think of these few positive notes.

1. Maintenance is done daily so hotfixes are applied (I have been in a game and for 3 months no voice chat and yet they tell me to wait for the next patch ((once a month))
2. They were right on top of the problem as soon as it arose. Most gaming companies would not even think to put a message on the launcher to state they were working on it.
3. More players forces them to get better servers/code so in the long run the crash is a good thing as now they know their limits.
4. You probably could use the break to grab a tea and rest the burnt retinas in your eyes before you wish you were Geordie LaForge.

Everything has a perspective and it doesnt always need to be a negative perspective on a negative situation
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! smartest thing i have read on this post

You have to realise that while your raging about the server crashing, imagine how the devs feel having to be pulled away from whatever fun thing they were doing on their day off, dragged away from their families to have to come in and get the server back online and trace the problem to make sure it doesnt get stuck in a loop of crashing because of a error.
Well said indeed.

Well feel free to give us a heads up as to a time table? I mean don't say a word & leave your client base out on a limb to wait for any kind of information.

Leave people waiting around building up rage. Good business model.

I'm as anxious as the next person to get back in game but I really appreciate the "cool" part of this community who order pizza and open a beer when the server goes down. Personally I opened a bottle of wine, a great three girls cab if you must know, and I'll read a book until the server comes back up. Too many things to stress us out, I play STO to relax no sense in stressing about not being able to play.

So just out of curiosity, considering I just came back to STO after over a year away, threw some money at the store to buy the features I wanted from back when I was paying to play, and was hoping to play at some point today on my one day off in the week, do we have even a rough ETA on servers coming back online?

Lets all just give them time, we aint talking about some dunky little computer that needs a reboot here, were talking about a damn server. Gona take id say 30m - too- 1 hour at least i think
Actually, it's multiple servers

As for the whole "Scheduled downtime" snafu, it's been said before their system is a template which makes it update multiple places at one shot. It's why the date always says the day they post it, not the next day when the maintenance actually happens.

Ops apologized for it, obviously they just wanted to do the template and get back to it. As soon as they know anything, they will reply.

Yup, outcry over something that can happen to any company.

Honestly, i think cryptic wasnt expecting this many people to start playing and their servers are not enough to handle it, couple that with the ammounts of maintenance this game needs and its a tough job to keep it all up.

Have a cookie, coffee and watch deep space nine season 5 episode 06 - Trails of Tribble-ations
