I love my Sovereign. But, based on the last few Elite STF events I've played, it's pretty obvious to me that the goal is to dish out as much damage as possible as soon as possible.

So, I want to keep my Sovereign for story missions, but I want to build a Tactical Escort Refit for Elite STF.

I'm a Tactical Captain.

Here's what I'm thinking.

Weapons:
3x Antipolaron Dual Heavy Cannon
1x Quantum Torpedo
3x Antipolaron Turret

I have the full Borg and Aegis sets, plus a MACO shield. So, I'm gonna run Borg Deflector, Borg Engines, and MACO shield.

Consoles:
Sci: Emitter Array, Field Generator
Eng: Electroceramic, Plasma Distro Mani, Field Emitter
Tac: Assimilated Module, APMR, APMR, ZPQC

For BOffs:
Lt. Eng: EPtS 1, RSP 1
St. Sci: Pol. Hull 1, HE 2
En. Tac: Torp Spread 1
Lt. Com Tac: Tac Team 1, Rapid Fire 1, AP Delta 2
Com. Tac: Tac Team 1, AP Beta 1, Scatter Volley 2, AP Omega 3

Thoughts?

3 attack patterns share a CD. I'd drop one and use a second TS, i.e. drop the Delta for another Scatter 2 and take a Torp Spread 2 for the RF 1.

Plasma Distro... You should already have 125 weapon power with just one point in weapon performance. Other viable options are i.e. monotonium or EPS. I'd use the borg console in a sci slot (instead of the emitter array) and 4 APMR. No need to buff that one torp if you can have +26 for 6 energy weapons.

Other builds are discussed in this thread http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=244532

For my tact consoles I use cannon scatter 2&3 really dishes out punishment to multiple target good in the infected run.and torp spread 1&2 with tact teams 1-3 and a thy 1 as I'm using plasma torps.

3 x dual heavy antiproton cannons 1 x mk xii plasma
2 x antiproton turrets and mk xii plasma

Full maco set

Engineer emp to sheilds 2 and engineer team 1

Science polarise hull 2 and science team 1

Tact consoles all anti pros 26% damage

35 % kinetic damage 35% plasma resist armour

Changes in RED

I changed from a defiant retrofit to a fleet escort for STF's I find it more durable. My fleet escort uses a build almost identical to the one directly above.
with the exceptions that I use 2x EptS 1, and AUX2SIF 1, for my engineering powers, and I lose the ensng torp spread

This is a very effective build

I wouldn't ditch RSP 1 for EPtS 2. It's a lifesaver against Cube/Gate beams.

HE2 is my only hull heal; it's gotta be big to count.

Polarize Hull is a necessity against Borg tractorbeams

I have Spread 2 and Omega 3. What's CRF and CSV?

Good thread, I just changed ships from the Assault Cruise to the Tactical Escort Retrofit as well. However I am an Eng captain.

CRF = Cannon Rapid Fire
CSV = Cannon Scatter Volley

I use Transfer Shield Strength instead of Polarize hull. I make sure to stay away as much as I can more the 5km away so I can't be tractored. Those times that I am, I use AP Omega 3 to get out of it... Of course the problem here is that if I'm running AP Beta (which I have 2 of) then it takes some time before I can use Omega...

I really like using CSV with AP beta, spreads the lowing of resistance to the many enemy ships, and helps your team... just have to watch out when doing it, make invoke a big attack response back at you.

So, an update.

I started out with the Tactical Retrofit, but changed to the Multi Vector Advanced Escort (MVAE)

Current configuration:

Weapons: (MkX Borg or MkXII Borg)
4x Antipolaron Dual Heavy Cannon
1x Quantum Torpedo
2x Antipolaron Beam Array

MACO MkX Shield, MACO MkXII Deflector, Borg Engines

I determined that Beam Arrays were a better fit to my playstyle than turrets in terms of maximizing my DPS.

Consoles: (All MkXI Rare)
Sci: Emitter Array, Field Generator, Biofunction
Eng: Electroceramic, Field Emitter
Tac: Assimilated Module, APMR, APMR, ZPQC

For BOffs:
Lt. Eng: EPtS 1, RSP 1
St. Sci: Pol. Hull 1, HE 2, Repulsors 1
En. Tac: Torp Spread 1
Lt. Com Tac: Tac Team 1, Torp Spread 2
Com. Tac: Tac Team 1, Scatter Volley 1, Scatter Volley 2, AP Omega 3

I found that Repulsors are MUCH better for STFs than Gravity Well 1. It requires some careful flying, but if you can control your ship, you can buy your teammates a lot of extra time to take down a Nanite Transformer in Infected or if someone blows a Cube early in Cure, you can push a wave of Raptors far enough away to give yourself some extra time to defend the Kang.

While putting out dps might seem like the only thing...
It is nice to have a cruiser in there too.
cruisers have sustained fire, can soak damage, and can throw heals to team members.

The only change I would make to your MVAM build is to your Sci BOFF slot. (funny thing, I used to fly the MVAM but I switched to the Tactical Escort lol)

I work my BOFFs to certain jobs. My Engineers keep my shields to where they should be (which is why EPtS and RSP are just great where they are), but my Sci Officers are in charge of keeping my hull covered and keeps debuffs from bogging me down.

So from my experiences with the many STF's I've done, this is a bit what my sci boff set-up looks like (for MVAM):

Polarize 1 -> HE 2 -> HE 3

Sure, HE shares a cooldown, but the overlap isn't very long. And all the debuffs the Borg love to throw your way, well, Haz Emitters just loves to give the big middle finger to those mechanical buggers.

I think keeping a BOFF with repulsors is a good idea though, for just the reason you mentioned. If you are defending Kang, it gives you an added edge.

Good luck!

It's amazing just how much better the MVAM is compared to the tactical retrofit.
