Agreed totally...

I use SV 2 & 3 along with TS 1 & 2. The big problem is WHERE IS THE REST OF THE GROUP?

What I've seen happen time after time is they allow the big mean ugly raptors in too close to the Kang. The Kang might be at 50 or 60 % but when the new waves of raptors begin to explode they take the Kang right out. I don't recall ever seeing Raptors from the new waves shoot the Kang to death, it seems like it's always a result of them being too close when they are distroyed.

I can take out maybe one or two waves close to their spawn points before the rest get the Kang but it's a futile effort.

As far as the use of Scatter Volley and Torpedo Spread go they are just the cat's meow in STF. They're is one thread, "The STF Escort Build Thread", which should be concidered the Escort Build Bible.

I'd seriously suggest ANYONE who wants to do STF's read it.

I have to dissagree with myself somewhat. We won a Cure Elite today after a cube was killed too early. The team kept the rest of the waves away from the Kang quite well. This is actually the second win I've seen like this. But most of the time the team is too scattered to do much good and won't answer hails to protect the Kang.

# 15 Elite STF Chat
02-17-2012, 02:12 PM
Here's the Elite STF Chat address.

EliteSTF

For the NOOBES;

Open your chat window, That's the little Star Trek Icon in the lower left corner of your screen. It looks a little like an upside down heart and it should be light blue in color.

See how pretty that wiindow is? You can type things to other people in there and recieve messages. Please try not to use vulger language.

See the little bluish icon at the bottom of that window that looks a little like three people standing up? Click on that. (With your left mouse button.)

The 5th line down, (Count them, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.) should say 'Chat Settings...' Click on that.

At the top of that window you should see 'Tabs' 'Channels' 'Options' followed by 'Chat Configuration.'

Click on 'Channels' (With your mouse button in case anyone has forgotten.)

Now you will see a box labeled 'Join/Create' and a little flashing line inside the box. Using the keyboard on your computer you can type things in there.

So now just type (Using the keyboard) EliteSTF

That is EliteSTF

Now the word 'Join' has appeared at the end of the box where youjust typed EliteSTF.

Click on the word 'Join'

TaDa!!!!

You just joined the Elite STFchannel. The people in there will help you learn to do Elite STF.

Please leave the Chat Window OPEN at all times. There are important messages that come through there including some from Cryptic.

# 16 STO STF Normals for Noobes
02-18-2012, 08:56 PM
I've seen a number of noobes going off on their own today in normals. They usually don't do too much damage other than maybe costing the team an optional.

Here is a link that might help some of that. Unfortumatly it won't fix it all because of their failure to READ THE CHAT SCREEN!

# 17 language poll perhaps?
02-19-2012, 12:05 PM
i have the distinct impression than a good percentage of sto players today have little or no understanding of the English language, more so now with f2p than ever.

Nothing you can do but go with people you know, fleet elite runs perhaps, unless you are prepared for disappointment in pugs.

Cheers

Jim.

From what I've seen, many of the F2P people just graduated from watching Scooby Doo to MTV. Tis' sad at best.

There are so many EXCELLENT resources here in the forums yet so many people choose to ignore their very existance.

I watched a noobe today, one of those instant Admirals, shoot and shoot and shoot at the cube in a Cure Normal without even trying to kill a node. Then when me and another Escort killed that cube he went on to the next, shooting and shooting and shooting at the cube. Someone said, 'Hey Noobe, Kill the nodes first.' He replied that we were wrong and he'd done it before and to #$%^ off.

Then I saw another noobe trying with all his might to kill a node in an Infected. I killed three nodes PLUS his. I just sent him a private, "Hey Noobe, take your weapons off stun."

It's really kinda fun to do the Elite Pugs even though my BP hits a high each time. There's ALWAYS a chance to tell a noobe or 4 to go read the forums and learn how to do it right.

Not than they would listen, or even have their chat screens on.

# 19 Temperarily Burned Out.
02-20-2012, 01:17 PM
After a harrowing day of STF's yesterday, both Normal and Elite, I decided to take the day off (Maybe).

I did at least 40 STF's all total. I just wanted a purple DoFF from DS9 and needed a few drops.

Few went well. It was Sunday, all the Rambos and Instant Admirals were out strutting their stuff. Few had any experiance with ANY STF.

One particular Normal Khitomer Space took well over an hour. I was the only one in there with ANY DPS at all. It was me and four Odysseys. As soon as I saw the other ships I knew it was a loss. Two took off and started attacking nodes right away WITHOUT killing the guardian. Me and the other two went after the guardian. It took several minutes to kill. The two Ody's with me had technicolor beams. But we did finally kill it. I typed several times on the chat screen for the others to come help to no avail.

After the guardian was killed I beelined it to the portal to see if there were any probes, I didn't see any but low and behold the other two Ody's had followed me. I guess they were trying to learn or something. I kept typing to tell them to one go watch the other gate and the other go help the other two. No luck.

They tried to help with the probes but their DPS was so low they couldn't kill them. I ended up flying back and forth between gates to kill the probes. After several minutes of this I noticed the first two Ody's had killed one of the nodes. What were they doing all this time? But what did I see now??? More technicolor beams.

So I go back to the other side and check for probes where the other two Ody's had started trying to kill the nodes. One of them was just happily firing away at the Gate. I typed at him to kill the nodes to no avail. He just kept firing away.

At this point I was ready to bail, three probes had made it through.

I kept running back and forth killing probes and taking shots at nodes when I could. I killed two at one point on the side of the first two Ody's while noticing they were still working on their second.

I mean SERIOUSLY! These guys were Admirals, All of them! And they couldn't even put dents in nodes or probes!

So I continued running back and forth killing anything I could. The Spheres are getting thick so I had to start killing them too.

About 30 minutes into this the one shooting the gate is STILL shooting the gate. I got right in front of him where he could see my message box and typed, 'STOP SHOOTING THE GATE NOOBE!'

No luck.

So I keep flying back and forth, I never did notice any of the Ody's die but I had other things on my mind.

45 minutes into this I'm fed up. I kill all the remaining nodes on one side, go check the probes and fly back to the other, kill a generator, fly back to the other and do it all again. By now 7 probes had made it through.

I get to the main gate and get it killed with what little help the two Ody's on that side could offer.

By now I'm pretty peaved and worn out. My trigger finger was really hurting.

But the hard part was done, I could fly back to the other side and start killing.

The Ody shooting at the Gate is STILL shooting at the gate.

So Now I am working on side two.

Here comes a three probes. I watch as an Ody starts chasing the probes. He's shooting and shooting and shooting, one of the probes pops. The other two are getting closer and closer to the gate. HE CAN'T STOP THEM! So I fly over and catch one as the other gets through.

We're at 8 through the the portal now.

Over an hour has passed, the second gate goes down and I start clearing spheres.

One of these clowns types, 'Is that it? That was easy!'

OMG

I refrained from typing what I was thinking for fear of melting my keyboard and lightning bolts crashing through the windows of my house.

Out pops Dinotra or however you spell it.

At least 15 cloakings later she dies.

Two of the Noobes took off, guess what they didn't pick up!!! LOL.

So that's how my day went. Most were not this bad and I hope to never see one this bad again.

Noobes, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before you do ANY STF's.

PLEASE!
