Is there any news on whether we may see a Akira retrofit other than the Thunderchild, basically a Akira thats a RA LH/UH or VA ship. I really want to replace my Prometheus and Defiant with a Akira in Borg STF Elite runs.

Its a waste after commander to leave this ship behind as she is a real beauty and graceful in her movement.

I'd even like to see her as a heavy cruiser with reduced turn rate but slightly above a Excelsior but with a weaker hull.

Hello, well there's nothing new on that front I know of.
We're currently having a bitof a conversation about a 4th type of ship for the Federation
that's not a carrier and as part of that I've posted an idea for this kind of ships among them
is a possible Akira.
I have no clue whether it's attractive or downright nonsense but you might want to have a look

Geko has stated that they have a T5 Akira, a T5 Merian, and a T5 Andorian escorts on in the planning stages. No idea when they will be out, though.

Geko needs to keep his arms away from me then as i'll tear them off for a Akira and then i'll never have one :p

Captain Geko posted earlier in the month that they were looking at the idea of a new Fed Escort in the upcoming months. He also posted that for a T5 escort they had the following ideas:

1. The Andorian ship
2. Merian Class (this is one of Rademaker's designs I think)
3. a T5 Akira

He also said that they hope to have a T5 escort out within a few months, but I don't remember if he promised it would be one of the 3 above.

I wait with growing impatience and hope for the Akira. I love the TNG-VOY area ships and models and although i understand cryptic making their own non-cannon models due to licensing, i really want to see this ship in the game at RA level

Personally i would hope they dont. Not that i wouldnt like one but i think we need new designs to come instead of rehashing ships we like to be playable at va.


They could instead do a design which is homage to an akira possibly instead of it being an actual akira. Which i would think would be the best of both worlds (no pun intended). So something that could resemble or see an evolution from the akira but be suitable for va gameplay.
