I think the "puppy" type Chafee should be like a scorpion fighter and it should be able to assist tactically in combat situations.

If they do that, all of the shuttle devices should be able to as well.

They're just there for fun. Pets are extremely common in MMOs - they're quite often an assumed MMO trope.
