Agreed. I understand the issue with skipping cutscenes that lead to combat while in a team, but that can be handled by waiting until all players have skipped before actually ending the scene. Solo doesn't matter.
On the bright side, watching the same scene through different runs of said mission can provide some comic relief when characters fall through the floor or don't appear at all due to lag.
Let us skip out of them, and a few fewer of them. Anything that can reasonably be done inside a normal text conversational window doesn't need to be a cut-scene.
And don't hold up content for pretty, let us play it and pretty it up later if you're so determined.

I was playing through them this morning while my Windows 7 was running a system backup.
The disk lag made for some truly hilarious partial graphics!
Yes a skip option would be welcome ONCE it works for group play (.. ofc making group play viable is more important right now considering the issues people are having).
Unrelated, but I was in one of the cutscenes, and it was all very serious... and then a Sehlat cub strolls on by... stops, turns around and strolls out. Rofl, seems player pets can get in.
The one that made me giggle was in the conference when the lizard guy, I am trerrible with names, kill the Jem fellow and he gets up walks closer to the NPC he killed and then plays dead again.
