Hello Everyone

Does anyone feel or think that the cannons are overpowered, especially in pvp? Not only that but shouldn't they miss your ship when your performing high manoeuvres to avoid getting hit? Everyone time when pveing and pvping I have noticed that the cannon fire follow the same it is firing on like a torpedo, is this, right? To me this is very inaccurate and I think should be looked in to. Fair enough since they are cannons they should have the highest dps out of all weapons. But they take down shields and hull way to easily. What do you guys think?

That's why it's restricted to the Escort class (with the exception of the Dreadnought), the weakest hull/shielded ship.

They can't survive drawn out battles like a cruiser.

Perhaps you should review your skill sets for PvP. I got into a dog fight with a Klingon in a Galor class this past weekend, and couldn't get past his shields. Eventually other Vice Admirals in cruisers joined in, but none of us were able to kill this guy. Eventually, they left (probably because we weren't putting up a good enough fight). He never took my ship out, but there were several times he came pretty close with just beam arrays.

Are you trying to get cannons nerfed? I know a tank can still out heal the dps of the best escort build. I think you need to look to see what role you are trying to fill in a PvP team and build around that. you may also want to look into a pvp fleet to help you with your build.

Please do not say those things here again. Cryptic has this nasty habit of of looking for things to lower that don't need it and throwing off the balance of a few other things with it.

Cannons have a severely limited firing arc and don't do a lot more damage than beams without rapid fire active.

There are a lot of things you can do to mitigate that damage via BOFF powers, power settings, and maneuvering. Asking for cannons to be nerfed is not going to help because its not necessary, nor will it happen.

To the OP, learn to defend against cannons. If you nerf the cannons, what good will escorts be? Since you brought up PvP, if you are taken out easily, dont do it until you have a proper build. PvP is not PvE, where you can get away with poor ship builds and low grade equipment, barring STFs. Ask around the game, your fleet, friends, and the forums for a build that will work for you, and get used to it. Dont go into a PvP match fresh from PvE and expect to be awesome. Read the guides out there to find out just what equipment will work for you. Learn from mistakes you make in PvP and fix them.

Let me guess.. You when't in to a warzone with your PvE build cruiser And you were beaten easly by a escort (That most like contiuned to hunt you down becouse you are a easy target). So my advice to you is to ask your friends/fleet what a defence build again'st cannons would be. Or eqip a escort with full of cannon weapons yourself (stop thinking just becouse you fly a cruiser "just like kirk and Picard" that you can be unbeatable). honestly it's guys like that. that make the most tempting target's for escort pilots.
So Please Stop Crying For a nerf when you don't understand how to come up with a stable defnce build in the first place

I guess you never played an escort, right? That's okay, you don't have to - but here's the thing about cannons that you can't know unless you actually use them yourself: They're very strong, very high-DPS, BUT only at pretty much point-blank range. Cannons at distances over 4km or so deal only a fraction of the damage they can deal otherwise. They're by their very nature close-combat weapons. That fact, coupled with their very narrow fire-arc (not really a plus when you're like 500m from another ship or get immobilized) gives them more than enough downsides in combat to offset the pure damage-potential.
So.. i think as far as weapons go, they're as fair as everything else.

Okay fair enough they don't need to changing except that why do they follow the target like they are torpedoes? aren't they supposed to fly in a straight line since they are pure energy?


Yes and no, I have had my shields go down really fast when using the best sets and mixd from which everyone else is usng plus the boff layout is fine but I don manage to keep the shields up all the time for a while then all of a sudden same guy/girl starts shooting and all of a sudden shields go down so easy in half a second and so does the hull strenght, is there a bug? I have used all sorts of armor and same reasult. Inmy sovy I find its well balanced dps/tank ship, I build my ships to what they lack, not have etc instead of improveing what it allready has which i have tried and find that the end result was worse.
