K7 would have been a far better location.

However nothing about K7 makes sense, for example how the hell is Icheb under the comand of wieldman when he would probably have entered starfleet ten years before she did.

Yet somehow, despite the fact he is borg enhanced, Wieldman has entered starfleet after him and has surpassed him to become his commanding officer
k7 is a federation base. Keep in mind the reason DS9 is begin used is because it location in compared to Defera. You know the planet where the borg are invading.

You mean like that 26-year period between the Organian Peace Treaty and the Khitomer Accords?

Events of the game, as well as dialog, would indicate that as of the stardate given when the player reaches the STF stage, the KDF and Federation are in a state of ceasefire. The war is not over yet, however, and it is evident from the most recent example given (S'taass on DS9) that the Empire is perfectly willing to go right back to hostilities once the more pressing threat is dealt with (even if it means dealing with it themselves, apparently).

Yes it's a federation station in as much as bajor is part of the federation, however it's NOT a Starfleet station. Bajor continues to run it as a neutral station. It's really not that hard to grasp is it? Starfleet is still only there as support and protection when it's needed, but even if Bajor is a federation planet, it's still bajoran property and they run it as they choose.

As do the Maquis probably.
The Maquis does not exist. Bajor maybe apart of the Federation but that doesn't make the station apart of Starfleet. It was a neutral place during the time of Deep Space Nine and it's neutrality probably has remained.

DS9 is commanded by CPT Kurland, a starfleet officer. His first officer is commander andrews, a starfleet officer. The various officers you see in the mirror invasion mission, are starfleet officers. Seems like starfleet is running the station. The only time I ever saw millita on DS9 was in "second wave"

I suspect this comes down to the economic value of re-usable content... The level of effort to create a station as rich as DS9 in both cannon and STO dev for KDF is prohibitive.

There are only a select few zones where the war burns. Otherwise we can't shoot each other. So as long as we are prevented from making war (full on zone wide pvp), I would say we are not at war, just cranky.

I for one respect the right of Starfleet to hide in the forest of diplomacy rather than face the might of KDF in open war.

i see the war as really a sort of cold war with some border skirmishes. neither side is totally going for it as they all have other stuff to deal with.

one or two klingons might be up for a bit more but its all just off the cuff battles rather than some coordinated war.

Except, you know, all the time wandering the station as Security NPCs... Notice how you don't see Starfleet security wandering the station like you do on ESD? The station has the same status it did in the DS9 series. Sisko was the commander of the station back then just like Kirkland is now. The only time you see Starfleet is in ops or as civilians. Even if they have relinquished control we're obviously running it the same way by keeping it neutral.

DS9 was only neutral becaus Bajor was netural, now that Bajor is in the federation DS9 would be controled by the federation and would not be neutral.
