To be blunt the borg set bonuses are totally better. The only item that is truly better is the shield. For something that cost 8 times as much the set bonuses are pretty underwhelming, I mean how is the engine slower than a borg one in sector space? How is it slower in actual space missions? I mean come on make these worth the cost of 8x as much as borg set.

well sadly i have to tell you, you are a lil biit too late. The STF stuff got nerfed not that long ago. To be exact the MACO shields. I dont think they will make anything better on any of those parts.

Just because they fixed a bug doesn't mean they aren't aware of how absurdly under-powered for their cost the set bonuses, the engines on their own, and the maco deflector is. It doesn't make any sense.

The MACO shields weren't nerfed. Just...corrected.

if you wanna have fun use the elite maco shield and then the rest is the retro borg set.

the maco shield is still the best ..even if it was corrected.

if not maco then aegis

I know maco is still by far the best shield in the game. I just don't understand why a set that cost so much is so meh.

I definitely completely-agree with the original post. The only factor I can think of which might diminish the attraction to the older 4-part borg set is it's borg-typcial messy asymmetrical appearance.

One idea I would suggest for maintaining motivation for collecting sets while still giving people viable varieties of configurations to chose from is for the set-bonus abilities to be some sort of permanent (accolade-like) ability that would not require those items to remain equipped.

Another feature which I think would be useful and very interesting is the ability to reverse engineer equipment via high-level crafting skills for the purpose of integrating certain benefits from one piece of equipment into another (so, for example... integrating the warp 14 capabilities of borg engines into the M.A.C.O. engines, or integrating the green/chrome appearance of the prototype Reman shield into the M.A.C.O. shield, etc.).

I've only run one mission with them since I completed the set last night, but the Omega Force set seems to be the best I've used so far. I've got the Aegis, Borg, Breen, and Maco space sets as it is, but my first date with the Omega set wasn't bad at all.

I fly an Odyssey at the moment (mock me if you must) and Omega seems geared towards hit & run tactics, but with EPtS, and tac team, I never fully lost my shields. The speed/turn bonuses are worth it as well, to say nothing of the gravatic anchor to stop tac cubes from turning a facing shield away. Throw in a tractor beam, buff my escort wingman with EPS transfer, and things die quickly.

I've collected the whole klingon honor guard set on both of my characters, but I never use it. It's terrible.

The shields get a little bit of use but really, the borg set can't be beaten. Even if the engines were slower or the deflector not as effective, they provide significant power bonuses critical to my effectiveness in combat. I have no motivation whatsoever to get the MkXII gear because it too, will be terrible. (Not to mention a pain in the rear to get.)

I like the borg set though, it's pretty chillax.

I have to admit that the hull and shield regeneration on the Borg set is top notch, but a properly kitted engineer can pretty much do the same things on their own. One who's paying attention can heal team members easily enough to make the other sets worthwhile.
