When every person I talk to feels the unavoidable plasma torps do too much damage, I feel like maybe the dev's should listen.
Having said that, I've had a few elite cube battles where no one has died and we haven't had a drain carrier (when I play my drain kar'fi, it's very rare for anyone to die, but seems silly to require a ship type feds have no access to). Anyway, I've tanked the cubes in a cruiser and survived the torpedo hits, so it is possible. The real problem is you can't really prepare for them as you never know when one will be coming. Just remove their ability to shoot regular torps by adding more HY skills, or just reduce the dmg on regular torps. The rest is fine.
I use the Automated Defense turret that I got with the deluxe edition; it gives me an early warning to star moving faster away from the Cube, but not everyone has one. I feel really bad when I get in a group and have to watch all those poor souls being destroyed by invisible heavy torps.
The only thing to do is fly above the cube where it can’t target you with them; but that is beside the point, a one hit kill weapon shouldn’t be in the game at all. I’d rather see the cube itself be more difficult.
I would recommend elite stf runners: do it on voice comms and have a plan that everyone is clear about before starting it.
So many runs fail due to lack of communication. "what the hell is he going over there for?"
or having no plan and assuming just shooting everything will work.
I think the difficulty of the Borg is fine. There and thousands of players beating the elite missions on a regular basis. The fact that your team did not do well is not indicative that the Borg need to be nerfed.
Im not saying that the STF elite buff was unnecessary but i will say it was significantly over done.
The 5th fleet is not under powered we went into the STF with a minimum of XI level antiproton weapons and various XI+ torps, we have run STF's for quite some time but when we rolled into Kitomer expecting perhaps 20 or so mins of fleet based fun and games....
....a minimum of 20+ deaths per ship and some serious frustration despite dual gate drops and some frankly astounding cube and probe control from our escorts we were left beaten and broken with nought to show for our efforts but a few chips and a frankly useless blue in our bags.
the buff of the borg general aggression may have went a little too far but the buff to there weapons and durability is frankly beyond the joke, high end player weapons and shielding systems even in the hands of practiced veterans (we were all in MACO and Omega full sets) were getting ripped apart like tissue paper in the hands of a conic hay-fever sufferer.
What i am trying to say is that simply buffing the elites to the point of near unsuitability for play in order to limit player upgrades is pointless even if it does mean you have to put out less content.
give us NEW STF actions and stop buffing the darn borg, were bored of it and simply making it harder isnt going to keep us playing it when there is no darn point
Tetris seem more like a game that you would enjoy, you know, doing the same thing over and over with very little thought; you know, the same amount of thought you put into your reply to me.
Yes, I can see you spending many, many hours assembling blocks into the correct patterns. You like it hard after all...
My sister and mother were fantastic at Tetris. I have seen them get to a high enough level that the blocks become invisible. Not fast moving, mind you, actually invisible. The only way you know what you are working with is image from the Next Block window.
