So I'm new, looking to get into PvP and need advice on a skill build for a tactical officer flying an escort. I've come up with this SKILL BUILD the goal being to maximize damage and speed. I run Tetryon 3xDHC, 1xQT and 3 Turrets, I don't see my weapon power getting overly taxed even on full tilt so I don't have the power setting maxed, 80+ seems to be fine. So the idea of the build is to get bonuses to minimize the power going to the weapons and maximize the power going to the engines and shields.
I'm wondering if I am thinking in the right direction or not, I am also wondering about my ground skills and if I should go 4xDHC and drop all the skill points spent in torps as well as if I should be using Rapid Fire/Torp Yield or Scatter Volley/Torp Spread.
Your build/skill tree looks pretty good, but having points in energy weapons and projectiles spreads your points and your survivability will suffer because of it.
I see you don't have any points in Starship Hull Repair, Starship Batteries (Optional, but helps more then you think.), Starship Subsystem Repair, or Structural Integrity. I would suggest getting some points into those fields.
Getting points into those fields will increase your survivability, but doing this means you have to remove points from other areas and where you have a +9 in a lot of your skills they may need to be brought down to a +8 or even a +7. The more abilities you want to to do the more your skill points will be diluted because they are being spread out.
The best advice I can give you is Trial and Error everyone in STO goes thru it until they find a build that works best for them "My Build" works for me, but it may not work for anyone else.
