I found it super easy as well. Delta Flyer with The Vault reward 360 degree phaser and a harg'peng. BO 1 and polarize hull (didn't want to retrain LOL!!!). Two pieces of Omega, two of Borg. Even the attack ship popped like Jiffy(pop). Swarmers almost went in a big group when i got the harg'peng on one of them. For the tac objective, just read the instructions
The first part wasn't too hard, after I figured out to target the worker bees first then take out the fighters. but the second part has me stumped. I have the engineering report as to the sequence but I can't see to start the scans shen I get near each derelict. I hit V for scan, I try F to use. nothing happens. I guess I'm dense. What am I missing?
You have to get within 1km of the object in question, and you will only get a response from the object that matches your profession. But a watchword; try to approach the activity items in such a way that their name isn't in the middle of the screen; otherwise, the pop-up action dialogue will blot out what kind of salvage it is and you won't know what to do.
Between that, and knowing you can get insanely close to the Idran Swarmers at this point of the game without them even noticing you means that I can complete the second part in about 5 minutes.
The first part, however, remains very difficult, frustrating and infuriating; even though I know to attack the bees first. It's near-impossible to do with a Tactical character because the fighters like to blow you up before you can even target the bees.
There's also been an ongoing issue with targeting going screwy during the first part of the mission. My options are all set to attack without targeting first, and for tab to select targets offscreen, but in play, it often just refuses to do that, so I spend long times not firing at anything because my weapons just won't fire. And give me a break; I'm old. Fast-moving targets are a pain in the arse for me
Found it normal my self.
Some tips ( or not , it depends ) for other fellow captains.
Put any set you have ( deflector , engines , shields ) in you shutle. Put some console(s) that give you more shields or more hull strength, just remember , before something hit your hull , it will hit your shields....
Read the instructions and do a capture/print screen/something to keep them handy. Play then in window mode , and have open the instructions in some other window so you can see them ( quikly switch , from game window , to the window having the captured info ).
I found the mission to be fairly fun, and I've run it a couple of times now.
I didn't have much of a problem with the first part of the mission...I find the fighters and worker bees go down fairly quickly when hit with torpedos...once their shields are knocked down, usually a single torp can do the job, and if you pack Harp'angs onto your shuttle/fighter you can do a good amount of area damage.
If I may make a suggestion for those having issues with the fighters and swarmers, don't forget to adjust your Active DoFFs to better compliment the size of the ship you are flying for the mission. Shuttles and fighters are much closer to escorts in style of play and so DoFFs should be slotted accordingly. It can be a big help, especially slotting a Conn officer so that you get the occasional bonus to the Evasive Maneuvers cool down.
The first time I ran through the mission I was flying a Peregrine mounting a pair of heavy cannons and har'pengs...I made short work of the fighters and Jem'Hadar ship in the first part of the mission, but the swarmers in the asteroid section nearly ate me for lunch. They were much to quick for me to target with the cannons, but I managed to get them with my torps.
Next run through I swapped the cannons out for a phaser array and had a much easier time.
Good lord, people. The first time the sensors reset, I realised I needed to ignore the fighters and take out the workers first after every other sensor. As soon as I did that, that section was easy. When the tac info came up, I wrote it down. I didn't fail a single satellite, in fact I remember thinking "hm, compared to some of the other puzzles I've faced in this game, that was lame". The first time, the swarm killed me (i was using 2 single cannons and couldn't face them quickly enough when they surrounded me), so I respawned equipped two turrets and the plasma defense turret and mashed the space bar. Job done. I then did it all again (for the second reward), taking no more than 10 minutes.
